Issues with Control Surfaces in Sonar X3

Hi guys I just recently installed Sonar X3 to my system and have noticed a couple things missing, even though I have both X1 and X2 previously installed on my system I can no longer use the Pentagon plugin, also I can no longer use my midi controller? I have gone through all the steps several times within the prefferences under control surfaces, but even though I can select my midi controller it wont allow me to use it, the boxes remain unticked in the options and I cannot adjust this?  I have hunted google high and low, I have browsed these forums, I have read through manuels and browsed my Sonar text book but I still cant find an answer, Im guessing this is going to be something really simple which is whats so frustrating : /  Anyways if any of you guys have any clue whatsoever as how to trouble shoot these problems I am all ears.  
Just so you know, Im running a custom 6core rig with 16 gigs of ram, I upgraded to X3 the same day I upgraded my operating system to Windows 8.1, I also have both X2 and X1 on my system.

Upgrade your drivers and firmware for all connected devices related to your DAW, and rename your AUD.INI and see what happens.
Otherwise perhaps some screenshots may help...

Check out windows snipping tool and upload to http://tinypic.com/ and insert the URL created into a forum post.

Getting my AlphaTrack Controller to work involves...
 
Open preferences and midi and checking the boxes for the midi ins and outs.
Then under controllers add the device and set the ins and outs to the midi device.
 
I'm sure you've tried this, but these 2 steps are key.

Yes gswitz everytime I setup my external devices, unfortunatly it wont allow me to tick the boxes thisctime? Gunna give what Alex suggested ago : )

Unfortunatly Alex it didnt work, I managed to locate the file and change the name, I restated the computer etc.. nothing, I still cant access my controller, I'm out of ideas with this one : /
 
Hey gswitz yeah thats how I set up my controller, the Automap universal comes with the SL MkII drivers

Do you still have X2 installed? If it doesn't currently work in X2 on the same machine, can you report to the company and see if they need to create a new driver? Or perhaps re-install the driver?

Sounds like you are coming in via USB and using default usb driver for midi. I wonder if you found the device in device manager if you could specify the driver for it. Do you know what I'm talking about when I say device manager?

Wasn't exactly clear about what you wrote, could you be totally clear about the specific behaviour for the Act driver and the Novation driver? i.e. what exactly works, and what exactly what works, and which driver is having the distortion issues. Thanks.
 
Agree with gswitz's last three posts. Does it still work with X2? Definitely looking more and more like dodgy driver.

No idea where 2.4 disappeared to. Might be worth emailing them and giving them a link to this thread after trying this. I am confused about what the stable driver is and the what is the latest beta driver (get links I suggest).

Yup give them an email, point them to this thread, tech support is normally pretty good... Might be a week before you get this resolved however. BTW could you change the title of this post please to the specifics?
