Issues with dual Octa Captures?

Greetings, new user and first post. I'm running X1d and dual Octa captures (set up correctly) on an XP system. As soon as I hooked up the second octa capture both playback and recording drop out. As soon as I disconnect the second Octa Capture, everything works like a charm! My only work around right now is to have the second octa capture connected via the coaxial on the first and NOT plug in it's USB cable. This basically turns all inputs of the second unit into inputs 9 and 10 of the first. Both octa captures are running on firmware 1.51. Also, this problem happens when I run Cubase as well so I'm almost 100% that the issue is with the Octa Captures. Any thoughts, solutions? Thanks all, Sean

    Yea, you cant have 2 sound cards hooked up at the same time, without some consequences. You can only have one recording and playback timing master set up in sonar. so hooking it up via coaxil is what you need to do.

    You can use both of the same sound cards at the same time, but you cant use both for recording at the same time. One needs to be recording and one needs to be for playback, unless you use the Coaxil

    I can't give specifics to your issues but I would recommend confirming the basic setup and configuration as there are a few steps.

    There is a special configuration needed to have dual Octa-Captures running. You need to have a digital (coax) connection between the two units. There are also settings like 'VS-Expand" which need to be off on the first unit and set to on for the second unit.
    Please see page 63 of the Octa-Capture owners manual  to a get diagram and step by step instructions on how to do this.

    Thanks for the replies...Robin, yeah I've got it set up exactly like the manual--the second octacaputre is set to VS expand (the first is off) and the digital set to auto. I've tried every combination of USB ports as well. I have 6 v 2.0 ports in gangs of two. The problem seems to be as soon as I plug in the second unit's usb it all goes south. I thing I might try a usb splitter and see if plugging both units into it and the the splitter into one usb port might do the trick. I just need to grab a powered splitter first....
