Mom passed at 6:30 PM this evening. We are OK. I had my hand on her head and my sister had one hand, my wife holding the other.

She didn't die alone and unloved, but surrounded by her family. I am sad for you, but happy for your mother that you could be there for her at the end. I'm sure that somehow, she felt your presence and that made her transition easier. Losses are so difficult, but consider that the only reason it's a loss is because you were fortunate to have had her in your life. That is something you can celebrate even while you grieve her death. Her passing only ends this life, not negates it...nor is she completely gone, because you're still here and there is a piece of her that lives on in you.

Condolences to you & your other family members over your loss Julien.
Myself, I wasn't close to my Father when he passed in 2001, nor am I close to my Mother at all, but I'm sure your loss is much deeper than I can imagine - especially if one is close to their family members.
With all the words of 'staying strong' & 'be strong', I just want to add that it's quite ok to have a moment of weakness here & there too.
Be weak for a few moments - break down and let it out a few times. It would be unnatural not to.
After all, we wouldn't know strength, if we didn't have something to measure it against.
