It's Late........collab with Thatsastrat

A while back Bruce posted this tune and I really liked the moody feel of it and as I sometimes do ended up playing some stuff along with it. Nothing much, just some atmospheric sort of things that I thought would compliment his sounds without treading all over it.
I sent him my idea and he liked it, but unfortunately due to a pc problem he had lost the project, so that was that. After some time he did eventually find a version of his project in a dusty corner somewhere and sent it to me to so that I could mess around with it. I sent him my version and he suggested that I should post it here as is, so here it is.......

It's Late

any comments / feedback good or bad much appreciated

Good stuff guys.  Sweet sounding tune here.  I like the feeling.  Great job

My only big crit is that the cymbals are a bit loud.  Especially during the chorus.  It's a bit distracting.

Thanks for the ears and feedback everyone......

Bruce - No thanks required! Thank you for allowing me to mess with it. I enjoyed doing it.

Lynn - thanks for listening and commenting - glad you enjoyed.

Luke - I had a feeling that this one might be a bit up your street. I hear what you're saying re cymbals - unfortunately the drums were already mixed down to a singe track, so I didn't have much I could do there - I did try using eq to tone them down a bit. If you have any other suggestions I would be glad to hear them.

Janet - yeah I have no shame - I'll borrow anyone's ideas if they inspire me. At least I don't try to pass them off as my own though ;)
    Thanks for listening.

James - thanks for lending your ears - this wasn't really intended to be a collab as such, I just sent Bruce my idea as a suggestion of the kind of things he might add himself and he was kind enough to just let me mess with it.

Bapu - Yeah Bruce created a great mood here I thought and made a good bed for the rest. Thanks for the ears and the mix comments - praise indeed from the upcoming mixmeister. Ok I already got the hint - I'll get to your tune when I have an hour or two to listen to it all the way through. ;)

Guitarpima - Thanks for listening and positive comments. Bruce really did the hard work here in creating the mood - I just followed his lead and hopefully enhanced what was already there.

Beautiful! Vocal lines are  Floydian sounding. Nice work, Gents! I do agree that the cymbals were a bit loud in the chorus.

    Hi Paulo & Bruce,

What a great vibe! Paulo, you've got a great ear for finding cool tunes and Bruce definitely has cool tunes.

The octave vocal thing is really effective, nicely done.

    Excellent work, guys.

The drum is cool.  I like the mix on the guitar, it sets there well.  Good seperation.  The bass and drum provide a good solid backdrop.  Very drifty.  Nice.

Very cool indeed.  Great sound and to me the production sounds doggone good.  I agree with Scotty in that this has a Pink Floyd-ish feel to it.

This is fantastic guys!! Vocals take it all on this! That spacey vibe does give off that PF influence.  This was a treat!

Fantastic work guys. I didn't really get the Floyd vide at first, but the vocals do sound similar to something from Animals. It also has that "She's so heavy" kind of feel to it. Nice performances and production.

A little Depeche Mode, a little Floyd (with better singing, imo). The synths really work well against the guitar, which sounds great.

How you getting that drum sound on the verses? Liked that a lot. The choruses, not so much with that hihat screaming at me !

I used Drums on Demand for the drums on this. It was a DVD of wave clips.
They sound real nice, but they are clips so they are what they are. Not much tweeking  to be done.

Wow - this has grown some since I was last here .........

Scotty - thanks for the ears - Yeah, the cymbals - I tried to tame them some with EQ, but obviously not enough, I'll have another go at that.

Geeare - yeah Bruce's tune had cool written all over it - I'm glad that what I added seems to be well received.

Bob - thanks for the ears and mix comments - Bruce set this one up really well and I didn't really do much to his tracks, just blended my parts in as best I could.

Frank - yeah it is a great drum sound - one of the things that first grabbed me. Unfortunately I only have the mixed down drum track, so no real control over that.

Daryl - thanks for listening - I'm particluarly please with your comments re separation as it's something  I always admire in your work and have become much more aware of because of that.

Beagle - I thought that too when I first heard Bruce's track. Thanks for listening and commenting - glad you liked.

Freddy - Thanks for the positive comments and good to see you around - haven't noticed your name popping up much of late.

Larry - thank you so muchfor the kind words. I agree, more collabs wouold be great - I love when contrasting styles meet and have really enjoyed working with people here - as well as the differing influences I always learn something from the other guys too.

Tap - thanks for listening and positive comments. You're another one that I haven't seen around much of late, so thanks for checking this one out.

Jamesyoyo - another Floyd ref huh ? I guess you must be right given all the others, but funny thing is that I dont think I've ever listened to one of their albums - I guess their influence must appear in a lot of other music. The cymbals - yeah I hear ya, I see Bruce has covered that with you - I tried to tame them with some EQ - it is quite a bit better than it was, but I always knew people would pick up on that. Any other suggestions ?

Warren - Thanks for your ears and kind comments. I hope you are feeling well.

Strummy - thank you too - I;n glad the the mix seems to be coming across well. I tried to be mindful of not treading all over Bruce's work with what I added and I obviously thought it worked ok, but it's always nice when others agree.
