It's new music day! (A recommendation.)

Based on a friend's suggestion in another forum, I tried and bought Steven Wilson's latest album "The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)."

You may have heard of him as the founder of Porcupine Tree.

It's definitely a winner and well worth checking out!

Damn...  I just discovered that the entire album is available to be listened to on YouTube HERE.

Enjoy!

Hope it's better than the two Blackfield albums I bought after someone else here raved about him. If not, I'll be back to ask you for a refund on an hour of my life. ;)

Wilson is somebody you like or not. Saw him in concert a while back and found that 2 hours is too much sonic mayhem.

Porcupine tree seems a little more accessible to me.

This album seem more cohesive than his first two.  (So less sonic mayhem if you will!)

Much more like a classic Floyd album actually.

I liked it. Not enough to pay money for it, but I liked it. Check out Liquid Tension Experiment (proto-Dream Theater) if you like that sort of thing. Same kind of self-indulgent show-off flash but without the annoying atonal fingernails-on-a-chalkboard sounds.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
