Thats in British Pounds and that ends up being about $105.23 usd .. NO VAT :) So Nigel how do you like this Synth? The more I use it the more I see it becoming 2012's #1 VST synth.. I have an arsenal of Vsti's and this is by far my Favorite, Next for me is Dune than Z8ta-2.. John

John Not had too much time with Blade as of yet, but I have to say I am extremely impressed so far - The past year or so I have tried to move back to using my hardware synths, so this is the first software synth I've purchased for some considerable time - and I think I made a wise purchase as this does seem genuinely different to me - how you finding it? Zo Rob papen synth are good but i a lawayz had crashes when i tried it back then ....any words on that : stability /Cpu hit ? Holy crap this is a nice synth. I ordered this a couple of days ago then realized I had screwed up and ordered the DVD version. The nice folks at timespace took care of things promptly which took a day or so due to the time zone difference. In the meanwhile became concerned after I read some less than favourable "reviews" at KVR on the synth, and about Rob Papen's synths in general - which surprised me since I had always considered his synths to be among softsynth elite. This is really nice. There are banks upon banks of presets which give a good estimation of what the synth is capable of. But everything is very tweakable, although not exactly conventional. The XY Pad and the Harmolator are begging to be experimented with and you can get some really nice sounds that move and change. I think it is a great tool for pads, textures, arps, cinema, sound effects, etc. I have Blade (64 bit version) in a SONAR x1 expanded x64 project with a number of other soft synths and it is middle of the pack in CPU use. When playing alone with a basic drumloop playing in Phatmatik I could make it go into the red on the CPU meter if I played really big chords on some Pad presets with a lot of modulation. I have a fairly modest system (older quad core 8400, 8 GB). I put it on par with all the AAS synths, Wusikstation, Rapture, Z3ta2+, etc. Seems solid here. No crashes, dropouts, etc. Installer worked perfectly, discovered right away in the Plugin Manager. I only installed the 64 bit version. After playing with this for a while, I came to the conclusion that many of the pundits whose "reviews" I read hadn't actually tried the synth. They were reacting to the look of the thing, which I have to agree is kind of cheesy looking. But great book in a cheesy cover. Hope this helps you to decide. Any way the nice folks at Timespace were first class in every respect, especially Dan Barton in technical sales. (not affiliated in any way - just appreciate the quick and thorough service).

Zo How many presets ? Dunno. Not at my DAW at the moment. Will be back this evening and do an inventory and let you know. As for "regular" synth stuff - not as many presets as I would have expected in this area. But that's what ultimately sold me on it. It is not another Z3ta2/zebra/Blue/Albino/Rhino/ which I've got lots of. I think it will do that kind of thing but you can tell Papen's emphasis was on sound creation. I think this is a tool where you can imagine a sound and create it. (well we'll see LOL)

There are at least 800-900 presets. 10 banks of up to 128 presets in each bank. Lots of arps, a few drones, a few bass, lots of pads, a few drum/percs, wobbles, and "synths" which tend to be slow attack/ long release sounds - aka pads. LOL. Just for fun I created a simple mono synth and it was ok. Kinda thin kinda plain Jane. Then I poly'd it, added some effects and thickened it up. Then I played around with some modulation using the xy pad, slowed down the release - a beautiful pad. LOL It's it's job. I love this synth - but won't mistake it for z3ta

Hi Brando, I also read those reviews at KVR and was surprised at some of the negativity. Thanks for giving your input and review on this.....I'm going to demo it and.....well....probably end up picking this up. Are you able to load any .wav (or other) file types into this to mangle the sounds? I like the XY pad on Alchemy (amongst the excellent sounds) and this looks like it might be a good tool as well. Do you have a link to some of your music? Thanks,

Do you have a link to some of your music? Thanks, Hey Mesh - I haven't found a way to load a wave (or any other file type). That's a (small) disappointment. I would like to as a minimum be able to load different wave files as waveforms into an LFO. Seems to be fixed/limited to the provided simple LFO waveforms only. Also, it would be nice to be able to import MIDI patterns into the arp. I think the modulation and harmolator capabilities are very powerful and intuitive however and it looks to me like Papen designed the instrument to feature these items as the basis for the unique sound. It works. As for my music - I don't have anything I feel good enough about to share at the moment. My real job keeps me very busy and I just haven't had the chance to focus enough on getting anything completed. I keep saying soon... LOL Hope you play with the demo and get a real chance to try it out. It is not a typical synth for sure. Nothing like Papen's others which is what is so cool about it.

Yes, I'll play with the demo this weekend probably have another GAS attack! From most people that say "I don't have anything I feel good enough about to share at the moment.", usually are the ones that write really good music, but are too modest to share. I'll bet a Rob Papen Blade that you fall into this catagory....lol. :) For me, being just a hobbyist, it's a bit intimidating to share my amateur work amongst all these pro's, but I'd certainly appreciate all their advice/comments and hopefully improve from there.

I was going to post a video of some of presets ect.. but the last time I posted I used camstudio , since then I upgraded to 64 bit OS Windows 7, And camstudio dosn't work. :( .. As Brando mentioned there's lots of presets.. I haven't even heard half of them yet I kinda get lost playing with all these features.. I truly love this synth, But the arp I must say, you'll need to wrap your head around it not the best IMO, but make sure its not locked otherwise it dose nothing, My favorite part of blade is the XY and the pitch wheel , and the ability to record your movements, what I hope is that an Ipad will allow me to control the XY such as omnisphere.. or my Iphone if there's an app.Or a touch panel monitor.. Btw the ability to sync those movement to different time signatures is amazing then grabbing the pitch wheel or mod wheel is nuts.. As you can see I like...:) As far as synth sounds I see it lacking a little .But all you need to do is tweak it a bit.. As far as my arsenal goes . I rate this #1 , then Dune then Z8ta-2. I already incorporated it into a track Im working on.. Pretty slick .. definatley worth the money ..

I think tools like these are pretty cool? And provide a lot of room for people to create some pretty amazing things. But I'm wondering if the whole "song wrighting?" And musucianship aspectect can get muddied by such things? Will we be writing music in 20 years? Or will it be our machines? I guess it will still be recorded in a Roland product :-) And don't get me wrong, I enjoy and appreciate the technical aspect. But I enjoy "the organic aspect" of creating music as well and think that it is paramount.
All you need is love, just ask the Beatles? ----------
