It's Mine (unbelivable good luck-themed post)

Got home tonight to find a big box waiting for me. A couple of hours of moving stuff around and installing and testing later, everything seems to be working absolutely A-OK.

The remarkable thing about this is how it came about. I was idly browsing the B-Stock part of the Digital village website on Saturday morning, and they had a listing with no photo for SONAR V-700 - £1500.

Gave them a ring to ask if this was the console or the I/O. Guy looked it up, and very much to his own surprise said "it's both!"

Ex showroom model, so they can't sell it as new. Here;'s the list of heinous flaws and damage I have to deal with:

* Driver disc was missing
* Uh, that's it

Absolute almighty score. Over two grand less than they charge for it new.

I am never this lucky. I must be due to break an arm again.

    Hey John,

    That is truly a great deal... congrats! The V-Studio 700 is really one of the best music production packages out there. I really love mine and use it on a daily basis. http://garrigus.com/?VStudio700

    Well, I set it all up last night, somewhat breaking the "never add new gear in the middle of a project" rule, but I've got the previous set-up side-by-side and can just plug it in again if I have problems.

    The thing that's really impressing me so far is how intuitive the design is. I've had a quick in store demo, watched all the videos and flipped through the manuals before, and still thought "Hmm, probably a bit of a learning curve here".

    But once you're sat down in front of it, it mostly sort of just works how you expect it to.

    Actually did a session and got a draft 30 second piece out to a client on it before going to bed, only needing to refer to the fold out card with the button functions on it a few times.

    Very impressed.

    Congrats John!

    BTW, you can find some killer deals on the Roland ARX modules right now. I recently picked up the ARX-01 drum module for less than $100
