I hate change. Every night I dump out my pockets into a jar. But tomorrow night, I know I'll have more damn coins in my pocket. Because change is inevitable, you know.

That reminds me...better take those 4 York Peanut Butter tins we have for change to the bank...and use their coinstar machine....

Yeah ... Fido hasn't slept in it for a while ... but it was too clean for Fido and he wouldn't like it!

(Had a friend of ours here tie-die it some ... and she added splotches of dark in it, so it looks like coffee or something darker was spilled all over it ... and from a distance it does look like it's dirty ... but you can't tell until you get close! Have a couple of others like that one of them is dark blue with the coffee spots as I call them!)

Therefore, I prefer to think of it as decay - Inveitable and Unstoppable. It's the inexorable march of entropy, rotting from the inside out. It's that droning, monotonous dirge, barely noticed by a doomed world intent upon denying it's own slow destruction.

You nailed it as usual... of course I am a dedicated devolutionist... it is the only thing that makes sense to me. Yes, I am serious!

Change used to be inevitable for me.

But inevitably that changed. Now it's same ol' same ol'...

There was a time when this place was full of enjoyment for me.

A lot of genuinely humorous people making me laugh a lot.

A lot of genuinely intelligent people posting some extremely interesting topics to read about and discuss.

And some genuinely moving stuff, where the generosity of our human spirit shone out like a beacon.

The whole feel of the place has definitely changed over the past year or so. It seems to me that some of the 'good' stuff has, in a lot of cases, been pushed aside in favour of nothing more than a series of Facebook/Twitter-type announcements. And yes, I'm as guilty as the next person.

I still check in once in a while, but instead of posting a lot and getting involved like I used to, I tend to look around on the off chance that something takes my interest. Or post a few crap jokes and disappear again. I was once truly addicted to the friendship and camaraderie of this place, and wouldn't entertain going more than an hour or two without visiting and posting.

Sadly now, and to be honest, it wouldn't bother me if it closed down tomorrow.

Reece it is funny how things work out. Many times the changes I made
were thought out and many times just a quick decision.
Sometimes they effected others but I still had to do what I thought was best for me.
Sometimes there was also a monetary issue but my piece of mind was
worth more to me.

I always thought that no matter what road -I'd have a guitar
in my hands and really everything else to do with music was just a lower priority...
as long as I could just play one.

The funny part to me is that I have such enjoyment learning to build them- but
I know the part that matters most is that I get to play them. Definately a change of interest
that I never expected...it just came to be.

So Reece...I think as long as you can bang on those keys and sing...it'll be alright!

Yeah, we didn't used to have all these freds full of people wining about how things have changed and nostalgia for how it used to be either!

Oh wait.......am I "allowed" to say something like that now? Will people take it the wrong way? Is it "mature" to mock a "serious" CH fred? Am I a bad person?

Oh yeah, I forgot - my whole thing is (obviously) to post without thinking too much (whistles happilily).

It's true, it used to be fun here.

Then I started getting all bad-tempered and it went downhill from there.

I don't know if it was due to me getting all bad-tempered or whether I got bad-tempered because of the change in attitudes anymore.

All I know is the fun aspect to a large degree went a few years back, I tend to come here out of habit now but there was a time where I couldn't stay away.

I learned most of what I know about Sonar in those first few years.

Like I say though for me at least it's completely different now but as the titles says change is inevitable and things change, people move on, new people arrive, it is just what it is.

I just hope some of the newer folk are able to get as much from being here as I've been able to.

The internet (or at least the part of the internet that one participates in) is to some extent exactly what you make of it.

I've never understood why people seem to overlook, or even worse excuse, ignorant, rude (and occasionally - threatening) behaviour "because it's just the internet".

If most of us conducted ourselves online as we would in person, the 'internet' would, in my opinion, be a much nicer 'place' to congregate.

Maybe not. I'm guessing that some of us would be capable of little more by way of contribution than clichéd sarcasm in either realm.

There are some very good blogs about. My favorite one is The Volokh Conspiracy.

And this forum is great for all things Cakewalk too.

I don't think people act the same in online forums as they do in person. And I don't see why they should either.

I really don't understand the need to pretend to be someone else. Presumably those that do are unhappy with their real selves, which makes you wonder why they don't do something about it in real life and makes it all the more baffling that given the opportunity to present themselves as an alternative persona that so many choose to select obnoxious prat.
