It's official, I now have X1d Producer Expanded on my computer !!
The boxed version came today and I just got done installing it. The installation went fairly smooth, I did have a minor registration problem with Dimension Pro, it wouldn't accept my registration number, but a quick call to Cakewalk fixed that...(Run As Administrator fix). Other than that everything installed very smoothly and registered very easily. The program is up and running and has had one of my sessions already playing. So all is well here. As instructed, I ran the X1 installation, then the X1c, then the Expansion pack, then X1d. It's working like a charm for me !!

WOOOO! I'm a little curious about why you needed to update to X1c before X1d though. I just installed from the discs and upgraded to X1d directly as instructed by Cake. Unless maybe you were upgrading from a previous version... which is something I was not. Have fun.

Somewhere I don't know where, I read that you had to have X1c on your computer before you could install X1d. On these forums it's recommended that you install the Expanded package after X1c and BEFORE you install X1d...don't ask me why, I don't know. I guess it's supposed to run better or something...

Hmm... the Cake tech said doing a straight upgrade to d from a fresh disc install (build 425) was fine. Hope I didn't screw up.

X1d needs either X1c or Expanded to be present before installation - this from the X1d info: To install the SONAR X1d update, you must already have SONAR X1c Producer/Studio/Essential (Build 319) or SONAR X1 Expanded (Build 425) installed. Likewise, Expanded requires X1c, according to Cake: Please note that you must have SONAR X1 Producer and the latest SONAR X1c Update installed before you can install SONAR X1 Expanded.

Hey if it's working, it's working, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm starting to see why everybody is talking about the Pro Channel.....it is nice, I can really do a lot to shape sound already. I like having the Saturation Knob too !! What's really amazing is that X1 Producer looks almost like X1 Essentials, but with lot's more bells and whistles.

It's my understanding that the Suite already includes X1 Expanded (build 425.) That's why you can go straight to the X1D patch.

Yup. The Suite has expanded. I was just curious/confused about Luteman's second statement that to install Expanded you needed the X1c version installed first. But this sounds like it's all based on incremental upgrades as opposed to what I did (installing the Suite onto a brand new system). Thanks, guys.

I was referring to incremental updates, as you say. When I finally get round to installing on my rebuilt DAW, the order will be X1->X1c->Expanded->X1d

Thanks for clarifying. I would hate to have had to uninstall/reinstall because I screwed something up. Cheers.

Well me and my X1d Producer Expanded are getting along very well. I'm using Session Drummer 3 as a drum machine to practice playing my bass. All my sound checks have worked fine without any flaws. It's all running perfectly. No problems to report. Wow this is some really nice software !! :)

I can't wait to get Expanded up and running - still rebuilding my DAW. Various annoyances (like having to go to work) keep stealing my time!

There's a lot of good things about this software, True Piano's sounds great, Pro Channel sounds great, X1 records like a dream, Dimension Pro sounds great and I just scratched the surface of it, Zeta sounds great, Session Drummer 3 is fantastic... this is really a useful software package to me. At first I thought the X1 Producer package would be overkill for my little home studio, but noooo, it's all very useful and welcome !! Highly recommended !!
