A friend sent me that link, as we're thinking of selling our condo and moving to that area.
NO F'ING WAY!!!! It's less than 1/2 the price of my tiny shoebox in the sky, but I don't think I could have walked through that house!
We'd have to burn it down and start from scratch. Which would negate the price difference in moving.

There was an article in the news recently, comparing Toronto prices to LA mansions. A detached house in the city costs averages just over a million (cdn). It's getting so unaffordable here that nobody can afford to own a home. And just renting is almost the same as mortgage costs...
This is why we buy from freaks that fill their houses with clowns.

I have a folder on my computer for whenever I'll be able to finally build my own house (the original plan before my near-million was stolen by the Federal Reserve). I have a few pictures of pools with lanais around them like in the listing. Although I mostly see them in Florida (bug prevention?), they would be perfect out here with our weather.

One of the main reasons I had to abandoned the city I loved after 15+ years. Probably one of the most damaging things Mr. Harris and his plucky band of evil incompetents did to Ontario was mangle the rent control laws back in the 90's. Of course his predecessors haven't done much to fix the situation and here we are 20 years later where the working poor in pretty much all of the populated areas in ON can't even afford a rat/roach/bedbug/mold infested shizhole despite working 60+ hours per week. Of course getting housing costs under control isn't an option (for some reason) so the solution is to spend ridiculous amounts of taxpayer money to subsidize those filthy poors' rent (after putting them through years and YEARS of redtape and starvation... or even decades in the GTA) essentially funneling that money directly into the pockets of wealthy (and usually foreign owned) property management corporations. Oh and don't forget the gov handing over properties for pennies on the dollar and/or massive tax breaks to those same corporations on the promise they build claptrap "affordable" units to ram all those poors into... and by "affordable" I mean 20% less than the "market" rental rates which is still at least a third higher than what rents WOULD be if we had simply retained the original rent control laws. Glad you were able to get some capital into the game before it became virtually impossible for anyone who isn't independently wealthy to even CONSIDER home "ownership"... even if it's only at the condo level (which is a whole other scam that infuriates me to no end). The CMHC needs to be investigated for graft, people fired (and perhaps jailed) and their mandate restored to actually making sure people have, and can afford, a decent place to live. /rant //It's okay, mods ///Canadian politics isn't REAL politics... roight? ;-)
