It has the bass port in the back. Bad for wall reflections.

I neglected to mention that, if it meets the drop total,
the price will drop to $164.99

One of my friends owns them. They sound good. They do throw some low-end at the rear wall.
It is not necessarily bad because you can easily hear where the low-end is coming from.
You can learn how to work with them easily. If you treat the wall behind them it will help.
It is best if you do not place them close to a wall. Distance between the wall and the speaker helps.
If I had less than xxx dollars to spend on a pair of monitor speakers, I would certainly consider these.
They are frequently found on ebay for 168 and free shipping (each).

EDIT: Larry is correct. It is for one monitor.

Keep in mind that the woofer amplifier is only 57 watts.
These  are "bedroom studio speakers", imo.
They will work fine for private/personal mixing.
They are not powerful enough to "knock your socks off" with volume (in a large room).

No, it's only ONE...from the site

Note: This drop includes one monitor. If you need two monitors for a stereo set-up, you can add an additional monitor at check-out. This drop is limited to members in the US.

I bought a pair last Fall and liked them so much I wrote a review on the Sweetwater site.  For the money, they're impressive.

I've been using the JBL LSR308's for over 2 years.  I had Samson Resolv 6.5a speakers and always had problems with the bass on mixing.  I finally had enough and decided to upgrade my speakers.  I looked at several but when I called my sales rep at Sweetwater, who has always been straight with me, he immediately recommended the LSR308's, which wound up costing me $200 each.

My mixing has improved and especially the bass part.  I can, in most cases, nail the bass on the first mix.

I chose the 308's over the 305's because of my bass problems.

It's not surprising that they are coming down in price, with the release of the Series 7's. The 708P are like $1999, though I don't know if they'll street for that. The new ones incorporate more from the JBL M2. There are two versions of each of the 8" and the 5" models.

If I can sneak a pair of the LSR308 into my budget...... LOL   That's a great price. They got really good reviews, but the number of broken cabinet pics I'd see on eBAY, always made me a tad nervous. I'm not clumsy nor reckless, but....
