Jam Origin MIDI Guitar 2 Beta 5 Released

MIDI Guitar 2, BETA4+BETA5 release
We have planned quite a lot of releases over the next weeks and months.
One common request we get from customers is that they would like to get hands on new features and BETA versions as early as possible during development. As we depend on customers to support us during the entire development process, that seems a very reasonable request and also the most direct way we can build our products with those who care the most. Thus, from now on some BETA releases will be exclusively for customers. The first is BETA5 which includes the plugins (VST and AudioUnit, 32- and 64-bits) and a preliminary support for alternative tunings (drop D only for now). Generally we will try to keep a quick release cycle for customers, and a slower one for everyone else. The downloads page is a good place to get an overview of releases.

Because of this change, the BETA5 update will be a bit inconvenient, but its only this time. To get BETA5 you will need to download BETA4, which will pop up a dialog where you authenticate (with your email) and you will get a link to BETA5. In upcoming releases, and in all future, the “check for updates” service will pop up a download dialog whenever there is a new release (if you enable it).

    Thanks for the heads up

I will get onto this later, as I am most interested in finally getting a VST.

I'm busy trying to get my head around EQ at the moment

Okay... My curiosity got the better of me and I downloaded beta 4 which then allowed me to download beta 5, which is the one you need because it has the VST DLL files. There's a bit of waiting around while you get a confirmation e-mail which points you to the download.

I copied the DLL file to C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins

You then have to follow the instructions here:-

Note that in the registry you are looking for MIDI Guitar 2.

It's taking a bit getting used to, but it's still better than what I can remember of trying out a Roland hardware guitar synth.

I've tried recording some MIDI and there's a bit of cleaning up to do after. I wouldn't take this live until I was used to its nuances...

Great product though and I'm looking forward to the finished product, which can't be all that far off this beta 5 version.

    cheers

Heads up for the dinosaurs out there among us with Win XP.  The installation threw back error messages trying to load the 2.0.5 vst. Standalone did open. They do say support is only for win 7 and above.

I finally got the vst working in XP but had to download these two files:

    msvcr120.dll

    msvcp120.dll

Place these in the windows system either 32 or 64 depending on which version of XP or Midi Guitar you are running.

These files are a free download from:

    http://www.dll-files.com/

Hope this helps if you run into a block with XP.  New beta is improvement over ver 1. Looking forward to the final release.

    Bumpin this one again.

    Borders on incredible.

M-Audio 1010LT Card doing 44.1 sample rate. 256k ASIO buffer. Deivers 5.8 ms delay.

Borderline irritating slapback at this resolution, but not enough to throw anything off timing-wise.

Had more time to play with this, and the tracking is way better than previous releases.
Bend is a big issue, and the bend parameters are not available, pending the final release.

If these guys can pull off a credible bend gradient, there is finally a software program that can bite at the heals of Roland hardware.

Banging away with the vst beta driving IK Philharmonic. Beautiful response. Not without occasional false notes, but more in learning to play the program.

Yeah, this is what I am finding...

I'm also running my Q-C ASIO at 2.2ms (96 samples) and I get a warning in the MG2 interface, so I am going to experiment with different settings.
