Jam Origin Midi Guitar 2 Beta 8 released

Just got this from Jam Origin.......getting closer and closer towards the official release of MG2!!

MIDI Guitar 2 plugins released!During the last two weeks we've been releasing quite a few new BETA versions and fixed some issues. With todays BETA8 it is a good time to jump onto MIDI Guitar 2, if you haven't already.
Some highlights from recent releases
  • The VST and AudioUnit plugins are here! (32 & 64 bit, Mac & Windows)
  • Minor tracking improvements over the first MIDI Guitar 2 releases.
  • Added support for drop D tuning (more tunings to come)
  • MIDI AfterTouch support, following the energy envelope of the guitar string
  • Automatic notifications about new updates works.

Customer-exclusive releasesWe plan to release lots of updates during the coming weeks and months. Many customers have requested to get hands on new features as early as possible during development. As we depend on customers to support us during the entire development process that is a very reasonable request and also the most direct way we can build our products with those who care the most.
Thus, for some releases the automatic update checker in MIDI Guitar will ask you to authenticate as a customer (by typing in your email) and it will send you a link to the new version.
DownloadMIDI Guitar 2 is a free upgrade for all v1 license holders and free trial for everyone else.
Recent versions of MIDI Guitar 2 (BETA4 or above) will automatically notify you about the latest updates. If you use an older version, you need to download BETA4 first and it will notify you about BETA8
More info at the downloads page.

Thank you very much for your support!
Kind Regards Jam Origin

Sheesh! No pressure huh... LOL

I was thinking about that earlier... I need to have a serious think about it. I think my main problem would be inspiration. Every time I start of a "dark" toon, it ends up all light and happy... Every. Damn. Time. hahaha

I'm going to google "synth metal" and see what that brings up... Might get some ideas..........

Move out of the stereotypical "dark" 21st century metal, and invent a new 22nd Century light & happy metal.
Get a move on it man!!!

Rock and Roll big time.

Response is about as good as it can get tracking notes and chords without resorting to megabux Roland hardware.

Dev said that they will encorporate pitch bend and vibrato tracking in the final release.

Got to be a challenge. Track the fundamental accurately and still allow for bend and subtle vibrato inferences.

They say they can pull it off.  If so, critical devlopment on the cutting edge. Company to keep and ear and eye upon.

Yes this is only getting better, I thought it rocked pretty hard at version 1, so glad I came across this product and jumped on board back then.

You're most welcome Grant.....it truly has come a long way (IIRC when I first found MG somewhere online a few years back and posted it here), you & and I were the first ones to really get excited about polyphonic midi guitar and be able to play chords....remember that?

It certainly has evolved into a really good product (especially for us clumsy keyboardists). Like John Kenn and others here, I'm also waiting for the bend/vibrato development. I'm really glad to support Jam Origin in this as it's a joy to play my softsynths on the guitar.

I just purchased this and am having a few problems. The beta 4 release would not recognize my Focusrite interface. I
thought this was because I did not own the product and would be fixed with purchase. this is not the case as version 1 when registered does not find the Focusrite either. The 32 bit version is OK.
I guess my e-mail address is not yet in the system to get the latest beta to try that as it is not found when I enter it.

Any ideas as to why I cannot use 64 Bit, all other programs that use 64 bit audio work well    Thanks   Dan

Hi Dan,
I also have a Focusrite (2i4) using ASIO drivers all in 64 bit only and don't have any issues. What happens when you choose the ASIO driver within MG2? (does it crash or give some error message?) Also, have you tried WDM drivers?

Hi Mesh,
It just shows none as audio device. I can run with Windows audio in 64 bit but the latency is bad, no drivers show under ASIO, it works in 32 bit. I am running Windows 7 With all updates.    Thanks for the reply   Dan

I had a similar issue back in an earlier (Beta 1) version and not sure how it was resolved.....I'm thinking a newer Beta release may have fixed it.

Are you able to download any of the earlier beta versions or the official MG 1 (non-beta) and see if they might work? (some of the earlier beta version worked for some and not for others.....kind of have to use trial & error on each).

I'm not at my DAW now, but if you need an earlier Beta version I can forward it to you (until you get it sorted out with Jam Origin). I should be home a bit later in the afternoon.

Thanks Mesh. I have the Beta 4 of version MG2 and the release version of MG1. neither will work with 64 bit. As of now I still cannot access the latest beta version to try it, it tells me to make sure I am using the e-mail I registered.

I too will be away from my computer for a few hours but will let you know if I got it working or not

Thanks again   Dan

Yeah, that's really odd Dan.....contact Jam Origin and see what else can be done. I didn't even bother installing the 32 bit as my 64 works fine in Win 8.1.

It doesn't work stand-alone in 64 bit for me either. It loads but crashes when I select my ASIO driver. The VST works in 64bit...

This is a beta. I would imagine the developer would appreciate feedback when the program does not work as expected. FWIW, I just checked the 64bit stand alone and it ran OK after switching to my Presonus ASIO driver.

Re: Jam Origin Midi Guitar 2 Beta 8 released 2015/06/13 13:58:35 (permalink)
I've been in touch with Jam Origin quite regular in the last couple of weeks, so they know that the 64bit stand alone software does not recognise the Roland QUAD-CAPTURE. A scook says, it's a good idea to feed back to the Jam Origin devs with any issues. MG2 creates a log file on our system so it's just a matter of e-mailing that to them and it gives details of the crash.

Beta 8 still doesn't work, but I'm not so bothered personally because I only intend using it with my DAW anyway...

cheers

I intend to contact the developer about this issue. I have not had a crash but under ASIO there no drivers at all. The selection box says "None".    Dan

Yes, I remember coming close to getting a license then. I'm finding the new version tracks better than my hardware Sonnus G2M. When they get pitch bend enabled again, I don't see how it could get any better.

I can confirm the 64 bit standalone working here.

The 64bit standalone is the only problem I am having. I do not want to take anything away from this product, it tracks really well and is no end of fun to mix guitar and midi. I am not too great on keys but can now make very respectable keyboard parts with minimum effort. I am sure my issue will be easily resolved.        Dan

Just heard back from Jam Origin. This is a known issue, they are working on it. In the interim the vst's work great. They were very fast with a reply to my report and seem to be a developer that cares about the product and their customers.  Got to go and play more Midi Guitar...this thing is addictive.      Dan

Good to know Dan (I hate it when I can't figure out why something doesn't work as it should). Yes, that's the impression I also got from the developer (reading the posts over at KVR) and very glad to see him continuously working on it (unlike 7 Aliens Catanya's developer).

Knowing how addictive MG2 is, I have to be very careful before loading it up.......especially,  if I have other projects that need to be worked on.  Alchemy and MG2 are a deadly combination. :))

Alchemy is indeed well suited to Midi Guitar. Too bad about Camel Audio. I hope you have downloaded and backed up all your Alchemy stuff.    Dan

To be honest, I have downloaded everything (via the CA installer), but haven't backed it up to my external drive. I'll  do this one of these days.

I still want to get 3-4 more libraries to complete the stuff I want......finding them might not be that easy. Of note, if you're selling any of yours or know of someone selling, please do let me know.
