Just another modeling amp built in to a cheezy 1/2 Watt amp? Actually the modeling is done with a cell phone..
Retails for $250... Hmmm.. Hey, I think it's just a bluetooth speaker with a few pre set overdrives.. wha da ya think?

They DID fall for it?
I can't watch the episode (just endless commercials, typical CBC).  What a joke, it looks less useful than my $100 iRig UA and bluetooth speaker.

Then again, it wouldn't surprise me.  Michael Wekerle, one of the dragons, is a big promoter of local music.  He's constantly on stages with bands, bought the failing El Mocambo club to re-open.  He'd probably do it as charity.

You don't have to watch the commercials. drag the time line. You should have a pre view window as you drag, he's the first up. The Dragons at first were opting out but in the end 2 of them jumped in.

Just a modern day Rockman, that's all. I just find it stupid that it doesn't do anything by it self, without the apps in your phone or tablet it's just a speaker.

Didn't think of that.  What a silly bunt...

It's embarrassing to see the Dragons making comments to up their street cred. Calling it "innovative" and asking "why hasn't this been done before" shows the lack of knowledge in the market or competitors.

It was hard to tell the quality, given the thin "shreddy" guitar sounds he was providing - if the speaker quality was decent it might be worthwhile. But I learned my lesson 25 years ago when I bought one of those battery-powered 5W Marshalls that clipped onto your belt.

On the upside, Wekerle reminded me that Eddie Kramer is working on the sound design for the club.  Maybe it'll be worth visiting.

And this is exactly what I though when I saw it....

To claim that it actually could replaced a real Marshall amps 4x12 cab with a 3"? $2 speaker ...hmmm... but they swallowed it.

Just because you can...doesn't mean you should.

Seems like a product destined to sit on the shelf next to The New Coke in the New Product Failure Hall Of Shame.

These little portable amps that can fit into your pocket are great for quiet practice time, even better if they have a headphone output.

The difference is there's no gimmicks.  They don't clip onto your guitar or do any modeling.  They make noise and cost $25 or so max.  Paying $250 for this nonsense because the website design looks nice and it has a few knobs on it with EQ presets is laughable.  I'll just as soon duct tape a boom box to my guitar.

From their website:

JamStack

We've thought of everything. With a dedicated volume knob you won't be searching in the settings when trying to get that perfect level.

The Bypass button allows you to play with a completely clean tone, even without your phone.

Lastly, with Bluetooth mode, the Jamstack acts as a fully featured ultra-premium Bluetooth speaker.

I'm not sure you guys are being fair about this product.  I mean, a dedicated volume knob.  That's pretty forward thinking right there.  And a bypass button.  I could rest my case right there...

But then they pull out the "ultra-premium" speaker...in the states that's the equivalent of "super-duper", and really can't be topped.

You'll be sorry you didn't get on the train...

The way I play I'd probably need to buy a new cellphone every couple days.

Thanks for the great humor Tim, Don't you just love it when marketing people write descriptions of technical gear. :)
