It's kinda neat to watch the drums being played and helps with selecting drums to edit, etc.

Watching them being played is somewhat of a gimmick though, and the old overhead 2D view of the drums I found was quite adequate for selecting kit pieces.

I have come to favour the minimalist graphic approach of BFD3. Totally functional and clear with no distractions.

Intel i7 3770K @4.4GHz, 32GB RAM, 240GB SSD System disk, 2 x 2TB and 1 x 1TB (with SSD Cache) HDD. Windows 10,  Sonar Platinum. Roland Quad Capture.

Jamstix is one of those things where you have to read the manual, be thoroughly confused, play around with it a bit, go back to the manual, experience a couple of "aha!" moments, play with it again, and then go back to the manual with a new found confidence that you know what in the hell it's talking about. As soon as the Jamstix workflow clicks, the only remaining problem is in trying to understand the esoteric drumming terminology that's used in The Brain. But that's largely a matter of experimentation and tweaking things semi-randomly until you get the results you want.

That is the perfect description of my experience.

i'll be paying for the upgrade, i think i've had it so long, i also use it to drive other stuff (who remembers ns_kit7?)

ns_kit 7. Some of the best raw samples I’ve ever played with. I have the full set not just the free ns_kit.

same here, and it prompted me to buy halion sampler because he'd made the mappings in that... what an awful sampler it was, nevermind the dongle shenanigans! still, possible the best sampled drumkit EVAR!

just a sec
