oh my... thank you Janet for being brave enough to share the news.

Here's to you Jimmy... one of the most sensitive and aware artists I've ever had the privilege to know.

    This is very sad news.

Thanks Janet - I just saw this myself.

I should have been watching his FB page more closely, looks like he passed away on Monday?

I will be getting in touch with Tonia and see if they need anything.  we may need to try to help her out.

I will miss Jimmy very much. He was such an inspiration to me. He always took the time to listen to our music and appreciate it for what it was and what it could be.  He touched many of our lives with his musical insight and his genuinely unique ability to critique it with such a different level of understanding and appreciation while always commenting straight from his heart.

I'd like to post one of his own songs ironically called  "Your not there anymore" in memorial to one of the greatest song critic's ever on the coffee house songs forum.

Alas, I did feel in this case that no news was bad news as I felt sure he would have been in touch if he had been able.

Thank you Janet for flagging up the difficulties he was in firstly and for breaking this sad news also.

    God bless you Jimmy.

    Rest in Peace.

I wrote and recorded this song for him a couple months ago.  He heard it but I never heard from him after that.  I'm so sad I never called him.

    God Bless You, Jimmy

    Every now and then
    you meet a special friend
one who makes you more than you could be (alone)
one who sees you differently than you see yourself
he looks out for you, as if you were his own

God bless you, Jimmy you’re such a special friend
always kind and giving, good to the end
God bless you, Jimmy for goin’ the second mile
Somehow you always make me smile.

And every now and then, we stumble and fall,
something bigger than ourselves washes over us,
When the pain comes in waves and we don’t know what to do,
It’s good to know in God we can trust.

And now a tough time’s come, but your friends still love you
if we could, we’d take the pain away
we hate to see you hurting we wanna be there for you
so for now, we’ll remember to pray

God bless you, Jimmy you’re such a special friend
always kind and giving, good to the end
God bless you, Jimmy, for goin’ the second mile
we pray that God will give you back your smile
God please give Jimmy back his smile

That's beautiful, Janet. I'm deeply moved by your words ... That's exactly how I remember him, as well. I know you two were especially close, as friends, musicians and collaborators. These words of yours truly ring home ....

I just got off the phone with Jimmy's sister, we talked for about 1/2 hour. Obviously she is heartbroken and devestated by this news.

I offered to continue/reinvigorate the donations to help pay for his services, but she said that they have enough provisions for that, and that she would request that any donations be sent to a cancer service charity in Jimmy's name instead. She will be sending me the details on where to send donations in Jimmy's name in the near future. obviously she's a little busy right now.

please keep her in your prayers, she is in need of them as are her 4 surviving brothers.

Rest in Peace, my musical brother...

I just PM'ed Reece this morning to find out if he had any updates on his condition.  For some reason, I felt inspired yesterday to pick up my remix version of his "I Know" tune that has been languishing for two years.

    Now I know why.

I just finished it ten minutes ago and read this awful post. I will post it on the Songs Forum in a bit as a tribute to our friend.

Wasn't he something?  I admit, sometimes I didn't even know what he was talking about in some of his comments.  He got a little wordy and round-about.  But I began to see the gems of truth he was trying to say and was always amazed at how he could say things so gently and yet get his point across and not make you feel like you'd been shot at or glossed over.  He helped me so incredibly much even in my piano playing (which sounds silly, as if I'm the end-all of piano-players!) and of course my mixing, and just general ideas about songs and arranging, etc.  He was still trying to get 'that sound' that he wanted in his own songs, yet I'm sure most of us would agree that he had a great sound already.

Anyway, just remembering...and knowing that my music won't ever be as good as it could be because he won't be here to let me see his own unique perspective.

You may remember that I wrote this song but didn't want to sing it myself.  I sent it to Jimmy, mostly to prove to him that I really don't have a nice voice.  Three days later he sent it back to me, better than I ever could have done it myself.  Now it's for him:
