I do believe that the song was originally sung by the Box Tops, though I cannot figure out who wrote it.

    Some people call me Maurice

    Hey Space
You are correct it was originally sung by The Box Tops in 1967 and was a little under 2:00 long.  I do believe it was written by a country muiscian/songwriter Wayne Carson Thompson.

Nope. The Mark at Berklee has written a couple of books, and has been on staff there awhile. Pretty sure our Mark could smoke him on the guitar though.
