John Vere's - 1st 8.5 song- Won't see daylight

I just finished this a few weeks ago. I had knee surgery in April so it's given me an excuse to sit on my butt and finish some recording projects from 2010. But then as usual I get distracted by a new idea.

This is done in Producer 8.5 64 bit. I used Session drummer then tts-1 for kick. Drums are very simple. I might get my drummer friend to play on it later. Couple of guitar parts via Gibson Skylark under a pillow under my desk. hint of Mr Tramp.

You will hear Mr Tramp in most of my latest tunes.
I'm using him for glue. I like the idea of an album that is glued together with certain sounds. Thanks for taking the time to listen and comments/ critiques as always are most welcome http://soundcloud.com/john-vere/wont-see-daylight

Good song, good recording.  This is a good example of making the best of the tools available.  I had a little trouble understanding the lyrics after a casual listen, but the vocal was well performed.  I'll let others comment on the overall production, but it sounded good here.

    All the best,

Thanks Lynn, much appreciated. I will give the vocals re listen, I'm doing a re mix as I noticed on my laptops speakers the guitar solo comes in to strong.

Sounds reasonable here agree with Lynn the vox is a little low, perhaps a little space creation around the vox would help.

Pretty good mix overall. Vox could indeed come up a smidge. Otherwise, great work!

Very nicely done. As you suggested maybe have your drummer friend punch in a nice jam on this. Vocals were very well sung and clear. Nice song. Enjoyed. Blessings, John

Yep, vocals are little buried, and the mix is dominated by the snare drum. It's all quite 'mono' sounding, I might spread the guitars out a little and bring 'em up along with the vocs. Good song though, drives along nicely.
