djj,

Glad you got it working.

I think a lot of us have been following your travails without commenting much - like myself, but I for one (looks like Stone House too) am really curious as to the nature of the solution you came up with. It would help us all. Thanks in advance.

My Sonar X1 works fine. I love it, now I've figured out how to use it how I've always used Sonar.

Thanks All...
I just hit a little snag , Ran out of memory when saving again :(   And I ran into drop outs with Ni Maschine.  I'm not going to freak out yet. Im investigating a bad USB port/HD , where I have my NI sample banks on. Im also thinking I have an under powered and Old Psu unit. Or A bad download of Sonar..So My next step tomorrow is buy a larger psu and take the HD out of the external case and add it internal.

Also If any body knows, I remember Noel mentioning if you run out of memory change the bounce to buffer value , not sure to what value I think he said from 0 - 100.,
Funny thing is Tech support was looking at my dump files and I called to cancel as I thought all was working .. .  So what I though was working  isn't.. I still get out of memory fail to save error.
Im also thinkin maybe a bad plugin,  which shouldn't be that hard to figure out cause I only have a  few loaded up.. mostly from Komplete 7. I also didn't get my Octo today, so maybe tomorrow if I get it that might be a reason as why I can't save , dout it but who knows maybe my audio drivers dont like sonar and is causing something weird to happen.

My first experience with X1b .. about a minute in when a bunch of new clips were starting to play, the whole app froze but the music kept playing. Eventually had to use <CTRL><ALT><DEL> and terminate Sonar (but of course it remained in the Process list for about 5-7 minutes). Wish they'd fix that if they could; I do realize most blame it on faulty midi drivers (M-Audio Midiman in this case).

I wrote this in another Thread.... This my Latest Update!!

I just got off the phone with support.. And all my aggravation ends up not being anything related to my computer or hardware.. Its a problem with Sonar, which they will fix in the upcoming release.. When will that be NO clue.. It looks as if it will be in a paid upgrade when x2 comes out.. I had sent them the dump file and they have narrowed it down to groove clips . Meaning a work around would have to be bouncing down the groove clips. I had tried this yesterday and when I went to save crash..
The midi notes not playing I was told to adjust the play back buffer.  But really doesn't make any difference to me as I still am not able to save.. With no word as to when and if x1c will be release, I'm sooo stuck really wish Cakewalk would change the way they work on getting us fixes , A hot fix is possible as we all know.. So why not fix this. Along with the preview to host tempo, the pro channel and what ever else is stopping people from using X.. I really dont want to spend $600 and have to learn another Daw.  In the end there was nothing wrong with my Setup!  3 years in a row I have gone through some pain with getting Sonar's new versions to work..

Did the tech actually say there will be no more free updates, or are you just guessing?

Also, you're saying it's a problem with saving groove clips?  (or something - your post isn't exactly easy to read).  Strange, other folks aren't having this problem.  Or are they?  Again - hard to decipher what you're saying, with no specs and no recipe to reproduce.  Out of memory, huh?  How much memory do you have installed?  Do you have five other windows open?  See what I mean?

I'd suggest posting a simple-to-read step by step recipe for the "bug", so others can try and confirm it (listing your specs wouldn't hurt either).

Thats just me speculation .. I dont foresee a Patch.. Nor dose any one at cakewalk know the answer or telling us cause they don't know.. So I figure the worst. And can only hope they deicide to release hot fixs.. The work around was to bounce all groove clips asap then save before the project gets bigger..

Chuckie this is a brand New Hard drive .With Xp Sp3 32bit .. the drive that was written over is slave drive now.. Its used now for Samples as Its  a Raptor 10,000 rpm. The SSD drive I had was returned that had W7 64 bit , And I ended up buying a the Vertex 2 which had more iops than the Agilty 2 will proceed with the w7 installation this weekend.
To make the long story short Tech support has been very Helpful. I had sent them a Dump file and the system info, and the conclusion was a error with Sonar, and they will definately fix the issue in an up and coming release, Paid or not I dont know x1c or x2 no clue.. But I was assured it has nothing to do with my Hardware or a bad plugin. All I can do is wait, To install 8.5.3 would be waste for me as the projects I been working on were created in x1 with a bunch of pro channel instances , I did try 8.5.3 with those projects they loaded up fine and I was able to save no problem , but the sound was way off from what it sounded like in x1.. Plus I'm trying to keep my my Reg as clean as possible, Since I have a new install.. .. Yeah Not a so happy Thread Startekh.. :(

As My system specs are MB is Dx48bt2, 4 gigs of ecc ram 1333mgz, Yorkfield Q9550 chipset, ATI crossfire 4800hd
Adaptec 4800 TI fW card, 430 watt psu, new cmos battery, Raptor 320 drive , Samsung 7200 500gig hd, 60 Gig vertex2, W7 home 64 bit, Windows Xp sp3 32, Tascam Fw 1884, In my hand now a Roland Octo capture, , I don't think my specs are that bad either ..

Thats just me speculation .. I dont foresee a Patch.. Nor dose any one at cakewalk know the answer or telling us cause they don't know..

If this doesn't start a firestorm nothing will. No malice intended - but "no one at Cakewalk knows" is surely not true!
