I didn't see any updates available in CCC so downloaded it (the Sonar file and the plugin file) from my online account. I installed it manually. By that time CCC said there was an update so I let it repeat the updates and all good.
Weird though that the files were present in my account but CCC did not indicate any were available.

Weird. CCC does not show an update (im on Foxboro). Go to my account which shows the Gloucester update as well as another for plugins. I download and install the updates manually OK. Open Sonar and the new update version 21.6.025 Gloucester is showing in the about screen. I reopen CCC and now it shows Sonar as being yellow and indicates that an update is available. So I let it run again and it only takes a very short time. Update finishes and Sonar shows a Green light and on opening Sonar I'm back to Foxboro. This is crazy. Whats going on with the CCC.

Something definitely wrong with the CCC. After manually installing the Gloucester update, CCC now shows there's an update but when I ask it to run the update it selects the Foxboro installer for some reason. In the upper right hand side of the CCC screen it shows the current version 21.6.0.25 and underneath says an update is available

I did have to log out & back in to the CCC to have the update appear, but it still feels and looks clunky. However the last thing I want is for CW to spend their time working on. We'll see...

After the CCC update it no longer scans for updates after every single action. My mistake was not clicking on the orange bar at the bottom of the CCC screen to trigger a rescan of available updates. Once I did that all was good.

From the ezine... Miscellaneous MIDI note events with 0 length can no longer cause a crash during playback. This is interesting and perhaps solves a bit of a mystery. When I first started using X3 I tried to work on a mess of a project I started in X2. There was this one tiny little MIDI clip sliver that any time playback reached that point Sonar would stop playing and if I mucked around with it it would lead to a crash. Maybe this is what was going on.

I'm assuming it was tested by the Beta team (at least those who had the prerelease of Win10 installed) on top of the tests done in house that are detailed in the ezine (which I read this morning). Pure speculation of course.

It's Windows 10 certified... so draw your own conclusions on the basis of this (plus no doubt the usual QA cycles within Cakewalk, whatever that is): https://msdn.microsoft.co.../desktop/hh749939.aspx

Raises an interesting question though, a lot of the cakewalk plugis will probably not be windows 10 certified if you read the specs (link above). For starters "it must be a standalone app", so vast majority of plugins would fail by default. The plugins that do run standalone it would be interesting to hear if they actually pass these tests... (Edited for typo)

I just don't subscribe to 100% tested as a statement of confidence without qualifying what 100% means. "We have certified to 100% of our Design Verification Standards", would be how I'd post it. In software, we've learned in the past that even the most heavily tested software isn't perfect by any means, but is highly unlikely to draw issues for expected less than 1% of users. Even so, hardware is so diverse, that even IEEE standards are never perfectly implemented. Microsoft can't honestly say their software is perfect yet so I couldn't imagine Sonar being perfect in Windows8.1, let alone 10. With that said, I'm glad to see Cakewalk preemptively giving Windows10 a thumbs up and with some bonus points!! Well done!!

BTW "Fully tested" <> Tested everywhere. It just means all the tests have been run. In theory it could be just one test (although of course it isn't). We don't know what Cakewalks internal processes are, doesn't matter anyway. All we should care about is the end result.

I downloaded Windows 10 seems much faster less sluggish I will be testing out Gloucester in Platinum and see how that is with windows 10. I didn't have to update my focusrite nor turn it off for windows 10 to perform. This maybe the best move yet. Will wait and see how platinum fairs now so hopefully it will be good.
