Just as Sonar gives up ,so does my computer need help!!

Hi I have been so unlucky this week and need to buy another computer.
My 6 year old i7 has given up the ghost.
I have searched high and low on the internet for the right computer ,but there are so many conflicting arguments among people.

All I want is a straight answer to which computer shall I buy with 16 gig ram in the uk
Do I go to Pc world and get an Acer Inspire ,or a Dell  ?? or is there a specialist In the South of England that builds to spec.
I can never get a solid answer as I have no clue about builds .
All I want is a fast computer that would be compatible with my Focusrite Scarlet 6i6 first build

Any English guys out there who know their onions?? I would be very grateful

all the best
John

Ps What else next!!

    I've bought 2 PCs from these guys;

    https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/

You can configure it yourself on the site. The service, communication and after sales from this company has been superb.

    Hi james
The pro audio computers look ok and the £1500 one should do me .
I do not understand what this thermal paste is and are these pc's overclocked and need extra cooling???.
I am not a pc expert. Do you you have to keep putting thermal paste on something constantly or is that already done for you .
I do not want to fiddle with computer insides.
Don't all laugh at once!! lol!!

    Hi James

I have configured a pro audio computer and It does come to £1071 with 16 gig ram
I put the 3 year Gold  collect and return option In.
It would be dispatched to me on 15th December after putting in a 5 day fastrack build.
The spec looks good to me. looks excellent deal with no frills.
I will give them a quick call on Monday to clear up a couple of things on my mind and then I will definitely order.
Why are they putting thermal paste in package??? my last question. I do not fiddle inside computers or i will get burnt
Thanks James for putting me on to this as my last pc for music was from GEAR FOR MUSIC and it has been ok but  was overpriced for the service I got out of It. Suffered a few blue screens and  It kept restarting over and over. Had to send the machine back, but was ok after that. Their after sales were not great at all and were not interested after you paid for the machine.
    That was six years ago.
I have a Genos with Yamaha DXR8 speakers for listening and monitors for mixing and like you I like rock orientated music.
I luv the Ozrics!! and the Surprising by Purple!!
Had a listen to some of your music and to me there is a lot of rock inflences in there from the 70s.Good stuff!!
I am getting on In years now and mellowing down, but still love good rock.
If only I had a time machine I'd go back right now rocking away with a decent head of hair!!!! Dreaming again!!

    Hi James
Just written to you ,but It disappeared into cyberspace for some reason.

Well, I have constructed a pro audio computer for £1070 with a 3 year gold collect and return and should get the computer on the 15th if I put the five day fast track build in.
I will give them a quick call on Monday and put an order in.
Thanks for the advice as my last computer was overpriced from Gear for Music six years ago.
The Red Sub computer suffered blue screens and had to be sent back once because something was wrong with the motherboard.
Well after a stinking cold and hearing about Sonar Platinum plus the computer giving up the ghost I have completed the downfall that comes in three's!!

Big thanks for your help and advice, much appreciated and keep up your great music.

PC Specialist In  uk  sound very good as there are so many good reviews about them.
I have been digging around and it looks like they are a trustworthy company.
I checked on the power supply and that checks out at quality ,an asus motherboard and good quality components all round.

Hey, thanks John! Yeah, can't hide my influences, I loved the '70s - rock, glam, metal, prog, punk, new wave, even pub rock! It was all happening in that decade.

I hope PC Specialists work out for you. I was really impressed by their service, right down to the packaging and the literature they send with the gear. Highly professional outfit.

My daughter's boyfriend just ordered a laptop from them and the kept him updated with emails on the build progress, texts advising a delivery slot, and it turned up right on time.

    Hi Bz
I am over here In the uk, so that is out of the question. Just imagine the shipping costs!!!. Also the customs would  have there share today if things are over $28.
I purchase A record Day single of Leonard Cohens's The Future on vinyl and I had to pay $20 Customs charge.
    Double bubble for them!!

They should of sent me It as a gift and that is the only way to beat the system.
Thanks for your advice ,much appreciated.

    Hi James
Pc Specialist is the company I have made up my mind with as I hear only good reports from them.
You will always get a few moaners in the comments sections as that is normal.
about the £1000 mark is where I want to be as I like to play and then adjust silly mistakes or timeing and that way you keep your songs human.

I am also looking at Cubase  Elements ,just for the midi side on the Genos , but It Is still worth sticking with Sonar Platinum as the vst instruments also show in other Daws like Mixcraft which is an easy daw to get around for VST use. Your songs will fly out using Mixcraft
It does need SYS EX though to communicate with external keyboards with onboard sounds and that to me is it's only downfall. Most want the VST side, so it cannot be bad for the price.
I will get some music up and running soon ,when I get settled with hopefully no more Electrical gremlins in the wires!!
Just fought off an earth loop gremlin!!
    All the best
