Just converted to X1 Prodcer 64 bit and....(crashing problem)

Hi everyone. Just getting started again with Sonar X1 after a hiatus and lengthy studio upgrade. Last version I used was 5 so I feel like a noob. I have a crashing problem that may fall into the category of 'don't do that' but I am wondering if its not a symptom of a greater problem. When I double click anywhere in the track inspector of a MIDI channel, Sonar crashes immediately every time. Also I noticed something that may be related (or not). When I select a midi clip, the Process > Midi is greyed out in the drop down menu. The right click menu appears to work but the upper menus is unavailable. Thanks for helping with my almost a noob again question.

OK, but you need to provide some useful information about your computer and sound equipment. Everyone isn't having this problem so it could be a problem with your setup and we can't help you if we don't know what it is.

    Right.

Computer: Intel Core i7-2600k 3.4 GHz (quad core), 16 GB ram
Windows 7 Pro, Service pack 1 (64 bit)

SONAR X1 Production Suite (64 bit installation)
    PC4k S-Type Channel Compressor
    Dimension Pro 1.5 (incl w SONAR X1)
    Guitar Rig 4 LE
    ProChannel Module 1 (Gate)
    Z3TA 2

IO: MOTU 24IO, MOTU 2408, MOTU MTPAV

    Problem:
Double clicking the track inspector for a Midi track always crashes Sonar. It doesn't matter whether I turn off everything from displaying - double clicking the empty track inspector still crashes Sonar. Also when you turn on Pro Channel it puts blank space between the FX bin (or whatever is below the gain knob) and the gain knob. Seems like a waste to have the gain knob hanging up above empty space. Maybe that's normal I don't know. Also I don't see the PC4K Gate but maybe i amnot looking in the right place.

Also some menus are always greyed out (possibly unrelated)
    Process>Apply Effects>Audio Effects
    Process>Apply Effects> MIDI Effects
(I tried selecting audio and midi clips etc, but the menus are always grey)

I would be more help if I had had the SW for more than a few days. Then at least I would be able to tell if something is not 'normal'.

I'm pretty much a noob myself, but had the same problems after installing Studio.
Are you running the latest patch?

I rebooted, done a windows update, rebooted again, run the audio setup thingy and it seems ok now.

If you go to Help > About Sonar the splash screen will tell you the version you have installed. We are currently at X1d. If you used the upgrade path there are a couple tricks to updating so read the update instructions thoroughly. Also there was a thread a while back about if you click on certain spots of the gray space on an inspector it will crash. I haven't had it happen though and it was supposed to only be a very small section of gray space that caused it.

BTW you might want to try asking stuff in the X1 sub forum. It moves a little quicker. I just stumbled down here out of boredom.
