Ha! Into the Void. What a great tune. Haven't listened to it in years but played a cover of it when I was pee smellin' 17 yo in my old metal band. Ya... I gotta do a cover of that.

Ditto about Into the Void. I had a Sabbath kind of week recently and went through a huge segment of their catalog. There isn't much in there that I don't like. Of course, the original line up will always be my favorite, and those first 5 or 6 albums are unrivaled, but I wouldn't be without gems like Born Again and Eternal Idol. Besides Forbidden, the one album I struggle with is Live Evil - I just hate not to be able to enjoy it but it just seems so sub par. Especially when you compare it to Ozzy's Speak of the Devil (which is where I first heard most of those Sabbath songs, so I may be biased, too).

Ha! Howdy, Rain. Sup? I have to admit I'm one of those old school "purists" when it comes to Sabbath... just like I am with AC/DC. Ozzy and Bon, yo!

Hi, I was thinking that Steven Wilson might want to re-master that album ... it sounds kinda plain now. Btw, you need to play this as is, listening to it from the tube, and then on a FM Radio station with a great signal ... the FM sound will come off much cleaner and in a stereo format that is actually better than the album shows at this time. In many ways, these things were good, but FM radio really helped make them bigger and better. AND, 1971 was a very good time for FM Radio ... which did not start falling into corporate hands until 5 or 6 years more ... and things like BS got taken down, or at least played less, in favor of PF's and many other bands. Reminds me of Jim Ladd in the early days ... he would open his evening show with a BS piece that was "heavy" and "loud" all the way through, and then do the rest of his show, and the softer stuff came later in the show! But every top of the hour had a "NOISE" folks ... here we go! Good old LA ... but I'm not sure KLOS and KMET are actually remembered any more ... the music lives on ... got that "radio"? Back to Popol Vuh ... Hosianna Mantra time!

Mushrooms came a lot later for me ... and more like 5 to 6 years later ... I was already into the music, BEFORE ... all this dope! I'm a veteran, though ... I quit a long time ago, and don't need it!

Awesome - I'm registered there too. I've also joined the FB Sonar User Group although most of my friends on these forums avoid Facebook - for good reasons. :P

Yeah the Sabbath and Zeppelin catalogues were some of the first things I delved heavily into when I started playing guitar way back when. I think a Sabbath marathon is in order this weekend. Good on ya Beepster!

Incidentally, this gem was released on December 1st 1973. Since the Shabbat begins tonight, it has to be twice as appropriate as a choice to start off a Black Sabbath marathon, right? ;)

Sounds like a good idea. My vote would go for something off Never Say Die, like Johnny Blade or Airdance, maybe Under the Sun off Vol 4, and definitely National Acrobat off SBS. Forget it...There's too many. I like them all.

Try to check that special by Rick Wakeman interviewing Tony on his show ... really nice talk and bloke, gives the whole BS thing a completely different look ... and really makes Ozzie, sometimes, look just like ... nutz! Yep, this is a very good album, and in fact, was the first BS album I ever bought. Also got the album right after it, because it had some really nice cuts as well. I think the earlier stuff was just too over played for me, and got boring. But I could see folks not wanting to touch the SBS album, even for the cover itself.

I remeber it like it was yesterday. Volkswagen Van with painted parsley designs on the side with peace sign emblems all over it. Everyone crowded into it for Lunch Time Smoke ala Cheech and Chong wearing bell bottom blue jeans and tie-dyed t-shirts in the high school parking lot before PE anticipating the coach making fun of the hair.
