Just learned about a couple of great shortcut keys

this may be old hat for many of you, but i just discovered a couple of really useful shortcuts that i am now using all the time in X1

first one is: Press "B" on your computer keyboard.  this will open/close the browser window on the right side of the screen. this is great, as when editing clips in the main track view window, this allows me to quickly enlarge the view. if i need a plugin or a loop or anything else in the browser, i just hit B, get the 'thing' i need, then hit B again and it's gone. sweet.

second one: Press "I" on your computer keyboard. this will open/close the track inspector pane on the far left of the screen. same benefit to me - more real estate for working on the main track view window when i want, and if i need to adjust audio/midi/prochannel settings, i just hit "I" and open up the inspector.

i know this isn't earth shattering news, but within X1, i am finding them to be realing useful for working around the new interface.

cheers

And you probably know about D to show/hide the multidock, C to show/hide the control bar, and shift-B to show/hide the bus pane. I didn't know that last one until a few days ago - very handy.

    Cheers, Peter.

Here's one I rediscovered last night.

Shift+Left or Right arrow will cycle through the Track Controls.  I have my Track Controls set up for different stages of a project and only widgets that relate to that process show or are rearranged.  This saves me from mousing.

Has anyone taken the time to create a comprehensive list of ALL the shortcut keys?  I didn't know about Shift-B until reading this thread.  It's not on the "comprehensive" list in the help.  I also noticed an error in the nudge shortcuts (8 & 9).  Ctrl-F6 and Ctrl-Shift-F6 are not on that list either.  I'm guessing that there are many more like that.

It would be really nice if Cakewalk supplied a complete and accurate list.  It would also be really nice if the Key Bindings in Preferences actually showed all the keys in use accurately as well.  That way people like us don't have to spend hours trying to set up a few keys for things, not being able to tell if you've just clobbered another binding, or if there already was a binding set up for what you want to do but not documented anywhere!

So long and thanks for all the fish,
    Shang

They're all in the manual shang.

What I like to with the Inspector 'I' is to first of all undock it, place it somewhere convenient in your workspace, then make it as tall as it will go.

'I' will now toggle it on/off and it will ALWAYS reflect the controls in the currently selected track

Here's a variation on that theme:

"Ctrl +  I" toggles the Pro Channel and Tracks button.

Put a client that is paying by the hour next to you and you'll learn your shortcuts pretty fast.  The faster you can work and get the same quality, the more value you have.  You can look at it like this, the less time you spend navigating SONAR X1 with a hunt and click methodology, the more time you can spend working on how it sounds (at the same cost to the customer.)

Unless you are independently wealthy and have all the "free" time you need, then it might even be more advantageous to learn the short cuts.
