Just ordered Geist!
I'm excited, I took advantage of the free Best of Guru expander deal ($99) value. I've watched all of FXpansions tutorial videos and it looks really cool and inspirational! I really like all the effects you can add and how quickly you can sequence and remix beats and grooves and sample! Really SAMPLE! and quickly send it to the slicer and pads etc. I think it's going to be a really nice addition. As it stands now finding "beats and percussion" for means first do I want acoustic drums or synthetic/processed/other. If want acoustic drum samples I open addictive drums, if I want anything else I first check battery 3, and after that I go through all my various vst instruments for sampled percussion / synth drums /synth percussion trying to find stuff. I think the way Geist is organized and allows you to organize should quicken up my workflow and it looks like fun too! Just thought I'd share some of my excitement :) EDIT: also noticed this was my 1000th post

report back after getting it.. It looked cool to me but I tried the demo and just didn't like it. I would love to hear your perspective though as maybe it's worth another look. Also I see you have spectrasonics in your sig so if you own RMX I would be curious as to what it offers RMX does not as that is my go to right now.

Nice one on reaching 1000. I use Ableton/Reason rewired into Sonar so I can probably do anything Geist can but it still looks tempting because it is made to chop beats quickly. If you wouldn't mind could you give an update when you've figured it out to review how well it works with Sonar?

Well I haven't had much time to play with it yet, I'm really going to have to dig in and learn it. It's a different workflow that's for sure. I'm not use to the Ableton / nonlinear workflow. I really like the automation options I can tell there is a lot of power and ability with this that I need to tap into I've been working a lot with my other job lately though so I haven't had the time

Hi Sykodelic, Yeah I have Trilian and Omnisphere, Stylus RMX has interested me, I love Eric Persing's stuff, but I just haven't gotten around to getting it, also kind of waiting to see if a new version will be released. Anyways, A Geist update. It's taken a bit of getting used to but I think Geist ROCKS! The workflow is different then Sonar X1 and linear sequencers for sure! One thing that is really simple but really great is I love how you construct loops in there. You can go into the library pick out your own pieces for each of the pads. Tons of high quality effects. I love the automation graphs in the pattern sequencer, it's really easy to throw in some reverse, pitch shift, filter stuff, or repeats. But anyways back to the looper, once you've selected a kit you're good to go. The looper didn't work how I thought it did, but much to my surprise, it worked better then I thought it did! When you press record it doesn't start playing which I thought was weird. You have toggle both record and play to be able to track your MIDI input (through keyboard or whatever) but what is nice about this, is that you can press play, and practice until you get something you like in your loop then toggle record and add it in, then turn record off and practice something else. Basically it's uninterrupted! And a lot of Geist is like that, it's "Gapless engine" is really nice. You can see a lot of thought has gone into Geist and I'm still learning as I go, I"ve watched FXpansion's Geist tutorials and quicktips several times now and I must say this has been one of the most exciting purchases I've made for my studio in a while. If you're the kind of person who would tap rhythms on their desk in school, always humming a tune or beat or rhythm. Loves different grooves and stuff, I'd say seriously try Geist. I don't think you'd regret it. The thing with the demo is you don't get any of the content to play around with (for obvious reasons). Honestly Geist is everything I wanted and more in a groove sequencer! Well done FXpansion! It's the perfect addition to my setup and filled a void I didn't realize was there.
