To me Katz's book was a lot easier and somehow "fluent" to read than Izhaki's book on mixing. I've read them both twice now, and even though I'm an amateur working with very modest equipment, and using very little time for this music hobby, I somehow feel
there was surprisingly few really new things to me in the books. Maybe that's just because
over twenty years with computer music has little by little increased my knowledge, even though my skills have remained feeble due to insufficient practice (is that english?).
On the other hand - some of the most technical/mathematical things are chinese to me, but then again, I'm not in the least interested in them and I don't think they're relevant to me.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.
