There have been a few related threads down on the Software forum, but they have not been updated since the release, which was only a couple of days ago. http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2355837 http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2352329 There is no doubt Komplete is a great deal, first you get Kontakt with a lot of extra content. There Guitar Rig and Reaktor which is a very powerful synth. If you can afford it you will be hard pushed to find something that gives you more for your money. Of course you have to have a use for it. I was considering upgrading from Kontakt, but I already have most of the content I am really intrested in (or third party stuff that covers the same ground). Only Windows 7 is offically supported so that also is prompting me to keep my credit card in my wallet.

Oh, I have 7 and I like it. The Upgrade to 8 is $199usd and I am just wondering if there is something really awesome to get ASAP or wait until NI sends an email to upgrade for like $89 or something (which they usually do).

Ah- upgrade or not, that's a different question, I should have read your signature. There are lots of opinions in one of the threads I linked. I guess its going to be a little while before the early adopters have had chance to look at everything, it will be intresting to see the consensus.

Yea, I agree with the one thread where the consensus is WAIT. I got the whole K7 suite for under $200 because of an upgrade to my GR4. Seems like I will wait until they need to sell more copies!

i won't get it because it breaks compatibility with Kore. so i could spend $199 for the upgrade that will kill my flow. the total kick in the teeth, though, is that i have Maschine too, and K8 increases integration w/ Maschine.

can't trust NI, so for their recent stunt with Kore2 this year. they aren't getting my money this version update.. the leap in the 2 updates is a joke.. with a "few" sound packs or every sound pack.. if you want sound packs maybe it's a nice update.. but it doesn't offer enough and I've had enough paying for their bug fixing / delayed updates

I hadn't heard this. Are you saying that Kore 2 and Komplete 8 are incompatible? Or only that Komplete 8 and Kore 2 are no longer completely integrated, and that there is still some functionality, but not like Komplete 7 and Kore 2? This probably isn't a deal breaker for me, but I do like Kore 2 and it does have some uses outside of NI products. I also have Maschine so I will probably buy it anyway; I was already thinking of buying the upgrade to Session Strings Pro, so the soundsets and Kontakt 5 are probably worth the upgrade for me to Komplete 8 Ultimate. I will wait for a better deal to come along though. Paul

If anyone of you Kore users is interested: Kore2 wouldn't work in my X1 64bit system. But the latest update...just now available...fixes that. Running hot straight and normal here now.

I was wondering how GR5 was in particular.

After NI discontinued Kore 2, they said there will still be 2 more updates, this latest one, and one more that makes Kore 2 a 64bit app sometime by the end of the year. NI hasn't been fully clear on what the compatibility of K8 and Kore 2 will be. It's all very confusing at this point. We'll wait and see. As for me though, I'm done with NI. I don't want there new stuff. Except for 64bit Kore of course.

Anyone have it? Is it worth it? Do you like it? I'll likely buy Komplete 8 upgrade at some point (to have the latest version of Kontakt). Kontakt is the one NI plugin I use a lot. Can't say I'm overly excited by the feature list of version 5. After using Omnisphere, I don't spend much time with any of the synths. B4 was discontinued... so they lost me there. Don't like Vintage Organs (too harsh/brash) Guitar Rig is OK... (like the routing flexibility... and it's nice for practice purposes) Kronos is just hitting the streets... but I'm not too keen on spending $3000+ on (for me) yet another hardware workstation. I've had all the recent flagship units... (not particularly fond of any of them) One of my favorite hardware units (of late) is the little Ultra Nova. Nice synth engine... and it's a lot of fun to play (touch sensitive controls and the normal knobs/wheels allow for lots of realtime control).

I've just ordered an upgrade to Komplete 8 Ultimate, so I'll let you know how it goes when it arrives. Although I have to say, I'm not that excited about it - GR5 seems practically the same as for 4 for my purposes and the rest - meh. Although I am looking forward to test driving Session Strings Pro - let's just hope it works properly, unlike it's predecessor!
