1) Add Mello to your cart 2) At checkout, enter the voucher code UVI24MELLO

Hmm... Great offer but it doesn't work here so far. Seems like I'm always battling Fort Knox when it comes to online activations. Got the download, opened the required free Ilok account since you don't actually need a dongle. Let UVI install PACE (another compromise). Created the account with UVI so I could sign in to authorize Mello. Went through the steps and got a confirmation that Mello was authorized. Opened UVI with 3 error messages that I can't use Mello because it is not authorized. Went back to UVI to try and refresh the authorization and got their automated message that I can't authorize Mello because Mello is already authorized. Wrote a letter of appreciation to UVI for their piracy protection scheme but have not heard back yet. Was wondering, many here are successfully downloading the program, but has anyone actually got it to run? John UVI does have several demo sounds installed with the free Workstation that are good and the intent to give away a large mellotron library for free is cool.

Yeah, there seem to be a lot of steps required. Did you Activate it on that particular machine? I got stuck on that step too. 1. Start iLok manager on your computer 2. Sign in using your iLok ID 3. Double-click on your Mello license, which should be listed since you already registered it 4. Click on Activate, then follow the instructions

Kinda in the same boat as John. I'm real new at this and the whole jumping thru hoops thing is turning me off. I see I need to download their player and the ilok (which I hate and have refused to do so far, but the Mello sounds really good). I stopped installing because I have a question.. My main question is after downloading the player and the ilok is this a VST in Sonar 3? (something like EZdrummer) or is it a standalone player. Does it open in Sonar somewhere. Sorry to ask such a question but like I said I'm bad at this.

Mrneil, UVI installs both the vsti and the standalone. Both work. The vsti has to be installed to a directory Sonar scans. Have used UVI ree version off and on for years. The Workstation (standalone and vsti) installs a few demos that are good even without Mello. The demos don't have all the steps to activate. John

Thanks for the info. I never saw it on the KVR site even when I loged into my account and hit refreshed numerous time. So I just went over to the UVI site and used the code at checkout and got it for free. I have an iLok2 so it iis not a problem. Not sure how this compares to GForce M-TronPro and HollowSun's Newtron Bomb, but it is always nice to have a tron to play with. Coincidentally, earlier this week I had watched a video with Tony Banks and he was using a Mellotron. Love that vintage tape character that the trons give. Thanks for this thread and the info.

Cecilius, This where my question is, not made clear by these posts. Guys have finally been able to download the files (UVI 32 or 64 and the Mello file). Thumbs up to getting a successful download. No affirmation that anyone has actually gotten the wretched thing to work. Did everything I could here and only getting the third finger flipped at me from UVI and I-Lock. Great protection scheme though. If they got nobody who can launch the program, the risk of piracy is zero as well. Freebie, so not losing anything except the time. At this point, just celebrating the insanity of how far a company can go to strangle their customers. For the frustrating bugs in Sonar, severely respect the trust Cakewalk gives us with a serial number alone activation. Thinking of upgrading to the spendy X3 just to support this ethic. John

Yeah Sorry about your troubles JohnKenn. I am just downloading Mello now and also the UVI workstation. \\ One thing that is not clear to me is if Mello will run without the iLok or not. on the Mello product page it says at the bottom of the page that Mello can be run with or without an iLok. My iLok is on my studio computer, but it would be nice to have Mello to run on my office machine for fun, but only if it can be registered without the iLok on that computer. Has anyone got Mello working without the iLok?

Friends, Never got Mello running, and no reply to my love note to UVI. This what it looks like dealing with the paranoid, constipated, defective, multi step authorization struggle from my end... Use the physical I-Lock and you can maybe migrate across computers if they haven't forked this up as well. Use the non I-Lock option and you are restricted to one computer that you originally authorized the thing on. More civilized companies falling into the dark side of customer control (IK, NI, even Scuffham, etc...) minimum allow activation on a second laptop, or more. The rejection message response I got to refuse authorize a second time was because Mello was already authorized on a specific computer. Small detail that the individual computer rejects the authorization that UVI said is authorized. Bottom line for me. MTron Pro, elegant EVE, several buggy but functional freeware SynthEdit romplers, wave samples of the original hardware. UVI* can kiss my hairy red chalumbas. Life too short to play their hostage games when other and better options are available. John

I can't get it to authorize using my iLok. Same stupid issues I have with MOTU Mach 5 (built around UVI). It is a drag to constantly write tech support to sort out authorization issues and deal with the down time while waiting for a response. I thought this freebie would be fun (thanks again Larry for the heads up) and maybe have a use somewhere but don't know because it won't run in either UVI Workstation or Mach 5. Yay. Message sent to UVI tech support. Let the wait begin.

South, are you using the latest Ilok Software? This will create issues if not using it. Also, if you are, make you sure you do a Sync/Repair by right clicking on the Ilok Icon on the Left side in the manager and selecting Sync/Repair. Once you get the authorization key use the Authorize New License, then sync and it should be all good. Recently had the same problem with Lexicon because I had a Demo License installed, and when I went to use the Licensed version all it was seeing was the Demo. Did Sync/Repair and all was well again. Just a possibility... Cheers!

Thanks Larry, that did the trick. I had the software up to date but the sync/repair fixed the issue. Sweet! I must remember that for the next time I run into this.
