Keeps Getting Better

Here's a new song I wrote for my wife. I took some advice from other users on the forum, trying to improve the quality of my recordings. I worked hard on this one, so I hope it's getting better . Thanks in advance for listening.

Sean, Sounds like your getting the hang of all this stuff. Really nice song and the mix is pretty good. I'd say your getting better. Nice one.

This is sounding great.  Voice is strong.  Rhythm sounds tight and punk-ish.  Kind of like Sex Pistols with Steve Perry as a vocalist.  Nice job!

Mix sounds balanced here I would be tempted to spread the instruments a little as it all sounds a little to centered to my ears, there again I do have furry ears.

    Thanks to everyone who listened...

theguitarplayer: Thanks for the kind comments.  I worked hard on this one to get it more tight and balanced.

Waltenstein Studios: I started out playing hard rock and metal, so I have a hard time not playing "chunk, chunk" (punkish) riffs. Glad you like it. Thanks for the compliment about the voice. Steve Perry's a great singer. Never thought I'd be mentioned in the same paragraph with him...or even sound "kinda like" him.

Wookiee: I've been trying to push it out a little more. I used to use only 50% on either side. Thanks for the observation. I'll have to keep pushing it wider.

Headed in the right direction. It takes time to learn the little things that go into a good mix... So far so good.

I like the song....you get some crunchy guitar in there.

It's always a rush when one can feel and hear one's own improvement.  This is a darn good song that has the potential to be a gem.  My cheap advice would be to turn up the drums a bit and let them drive the song (ala The Cars).  A bit wider on the guitars and drums in the panning will help to open this up.  Otherwise, you've done yourself proud.

    All the best,
    Lynn

Guitarhacker: Thanks for the comments. I like crunchy tone.

Lynn: Listening to it again, and I can hear that the drums could come up some. I think I'd also have to tweak them and make them sound a bit bigger. I might remix this later and try that. Thanks for your comments on the song.
