Key Bindings

While doing clean up of stray projects, I thought I would check out some PLAT features that I never access.  Anyway, one of them was the key bindings section and how important it must be for one's personal workflow...thought to myself, I gotta learn this function.

Question:   There were an export and import button in the key binding area, and I was wondering if there was a place where people listed or uploaded their own key bindings for others to tweak instead of starting from scratch with a PLAT default?

Thanks... salud!

Hi. There are no default keybindings for import and export, IIRC. I have used my own keybindings for years, and do not even remember if I have overwritten any defaults.
I have Ctrl+I as Import Audio, and Shift+E as Export Audio.
    All the best.

I'm not sure what you are actually looking for. The Keybindings is for adding, deleting and changing keybindings shortcuts that suit you best. But many are there as standard to Sonar and should be kept as they are. The reason is so you can ask here which shortcut to use for a given task.

Not all functions and features in Sonar are set with a shortcut. Here if you run across one you can edit it and add your own. One example for me is reset all clip indicators. I have it bound with u.

One other area is to have a keyboard setup that uses the same shortcuts as another program. There are ones for Logic, Cubase and others.

As mentioned there are a variety of keyboard binding files in your user directory emulating various other DAWs. There is also a default SONAR file. The files have a kbn extension. They are text files but the information in the files is not very easy to understand without a way to translate the internal function names. AFAIK, no one has published that information.

In addition to the information about the bindings in the help files, when working with existing bindings or creating your own, there is graphical utility in the SONAR Resources and Utilities thread called KeyBindingDisplay that may be a useful reference.

[SOLVED] Re: Key Bindings 2017/01/15 12:21:37 (permalink)
Thanks, Scook, John and Zargg... that all makes sense... Wasn't looking for anything really, just familiarizing myself with PLAT. I thought that having a import/export options available, one might assume that some personal binding files have been uploaded somewhere, similar to the theme repository.  Gotta be careful not to assume, 'cos you know what they say ...  wink.
