Keybinding for volume envelope?

Anyone know if there's a way to assign keybindings to change to track volume envelope and also to revert to clip.  I find the clicking and dropdowns tedious and a work flow breaker.  I know you can hold shift while clicking on volume enveople and that you can center click on mouse etc. but though many people seem to be happy with this arrangement it doesn't work well for me. I switch back and forth frequently and I truly hate the dropdowns.  I looked in preferences and keybindings and couldn't find an option.   Just wondering if anyone has found a way.

Not entirely sure what you want is possible, but why doesn't "hold shift while clicking on volume envelope" work for you?

You have to locate the very dark automation line click it plus hit shift. I am suggesting that highlight the track and hitting a key is, when multiplied by many repetitions, infinitely easier.  Plus when working with layers frequently a layer is in line with the automation line.  If I attempt to move a clip utilizing the shift key I frequently activate the volume envelope.   To further frustrate, in order to get back to a clip mode from the volume mode you have to go through drop downs.  A keybinding would be useful there as well.  Highlight track, hit a key, back to clip mode.

Somebody posted recently that they had set up a key-binding for this very purpose - I even recall they used 'V' as their shortcut key. Damned if I can find it! I too find the envelope thing ill-conceived.

I saw that too Counting Coup.  In fact when I saw it I PM'ed him and didn't hear back.  He didn't say how he went about it in the post. I've looked pretty well through the keybinding offerings and can't find it.
