In the studio I'm using the Px-310 Privia I bought from you. In the living room I've got an 11 year old touch sensitive off-brand keyboard that works fine and sounds a lot better thru the headphones. At church when I get to play the piano, there's a beautiful little baby grand I adore. But I've played the bass the last several months. Oh well, some say I look cool playing it, so I guess that's worth something... Anyway, the reason I have those is because I can't afford a $75,000 concert grand. Nor could we fit it up the stairs. But this little Privia is pretty close....

My somewhat weird scenario includes a Casio CTK2100, and an Arturia Analogue The Factory. I also use an old Arp2600 synth(somewhat modified) and Minimoog(ditto) in this mix as well...and, yes, they have all been used live at one time or another...that as well as an inordinate amount of stompboxes and rack effects... Most of my pieces tend towards the more experimental side so I do end up getting even odder things thrown into the mix... As for the church...I have used my Minimoog in there as well.

Beagle I would like to have a good organ or organ module, tho. Perhaps plastic surgery or those little blue pills could help? Actually, the Blue Chip OX7 Virtual Tonewheel Organ that I sold would have probably blown your socks off (provided you think that's a good thing). It had a few organs modelled in it and draw bars as well - sounded great but I had to eat (stupid habit I know) so off to another home it went. Now they're discontinued and worth about $1,100 (I got $590 for mine).
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

As to getting a grand up the stairs - I used to move pianos and organs for a living back in the late 70's. You wouldn't believe where we could get a grand in and out of. Remember that the legs and pedal lyre come off a grand so it's actually slimmer than an upright piano. There was only 1 place (actually it was someone's home) where we absolutely couldn't put the piano where they wanted it and that was in a nicely finished basement. Couldn't make the turn coming down the stairs at the bottom because of an overhead restriction. Sounds weird in the description but it's true. Shame too - it was a Steinway B (the 7 footer).

Just a regular electric bass. But those uprights sure look cool. :) Someone bought a Steinway B and didn't realize it wouldn't fit? Ugh. Sounds like something I'd do, but I THINK I'd try to check it well before I spent that much. :) Anyway, if we ever move AND if money starts flowing freely AND I find a perfect one, well, maybe.

does anyone use a rack synth? why? which one? Kurzweil PC2-R, but it doesn't get a lot of use anymore. I used to use it a lot, as my primary placeholder synth. Nowadays, I'm more likely to use SampleTank for the convenience. The Kurzweil still has some unique patches, though, that I cannot easily replicate with soft synths. I should really transfer the Phantom Strings patch to a Kontakt library...
