Keyboard shortcuts that are awful

Are there any keyboard shortcuts that are really irritating? I was just thinking about this because I am studying the Sonar KB shortcuts.

If you find them irritating don't use them, or change them to something that's more like what you want.

You can disable keyboard shortcuts that you keep accidentally hitting.

It can get messy if you unwittingly hit the "O" key and end up in Offset Mode and not realise what's happened until much much later. I've therefore disabled that particular keyboard shortcut.

Keyboard shortcut "O" was removed early in the Platinum series for that very reason.

If they removed it after I disabled it, then I guess I wouldn't have noticed.

I've been busily mapping different DAW keystroke combinations to common buttons as part of using my Contour Shuttle Pro V2.  So far, I've done Cakewalk, Reaper, Studio One in Windows, and Logic Pro X, Reaper, and Studio One in macOS.

The result of this work is that I can more easily pivot from one DAW to the other without having to learn/recall different keystroke combinations.  For example, the same 'create a marker' button on the Contour Shuttle does the task no matter what the DAW.

What I can say from doing this exercise is that I like Cakewalk's 'mindset' for choosing which letters correspond to specific actions. At the other end of the scale, Logic Pro X is most mysterious to me.  Oddly, Cakewalk has quite a lot in common with DaVinci Resolve (a video NLE that I am *slowly* learning) and so I think Cakewalk's in good company...or perhaps I'm simply attracted to particular product approaches to GUI and keyboard management.  Hmmmmm...

The most common annoyance for me in this regard is failing to hit Enter or double-click properly before editing a value or text field, and having my typing execute a bunch of commands before I catch it. I'm sure this never happens to anyone else here.

Since most keyboard shortcuts are related to opening/closing panes, changing screensets and toggling things like Looping, Global FX, Aim Assist, Muting, etc. on/off, it's usually not a huge deal, and easy to back out if you just think about what you typed. Hitting numbers that change screensets is immediately obvious, and scary before you realize what happened. I've re-assigned most of those to harmless functions like resetting peak indicators or to the 'Do Nothing' function.

Probably the only one that's potentially destructive is if you have a track armed, and hit R in Overwrite mode, but Undo should take care of that. S for split is another one you might need to Undo, but I've re-mapped it to Set Measure/Beat At Now which doesn't do anything unless you hit Enter after the dialog pops up.

... GaryMedia... .  do you have your Contour ShuttlePro V2 working in SONAR Platinum or in CbB?

I thought that the ShuttlePro became unusable a few years ago in SONAR??

I have it working in CbB.  It haven't been back to Platinum since getting the Shuttle, and CbB is a different executable, so there's setup work.  If you *really* need to know if it works, I could fiddle around to see if Platinum has issues or not.  Nevertheless, I'm using it just fine in CbB.

In photoshop, the ctrl-shift-alt-e shortcut copy all layers into one. I love it. :)
