Thanks Rick, sorting out everything now, sifting thru the ocmputer. I am intrigued by the idea of Windows 7. Haven't been having too many issues lately. I think I can hang in there. Your right, this is a great program...I am looking forward to upgrading in the future to another Sonar product.

I was really irritated when I first started this and since then regained my composure :)  I should have known better. I have learned that I need to get more memory, upgrade the operating system may help and start taking advantage of tech support. I did upgrade my video board which made a huge difference. Thanks again for your idea's and input...all appreciated.

Well after all this time I decided to throw a quick blurb out there to tell what I've found out since last posting about this.
1) I have done a ton of research into the problems I've been having and I hope that maybe it helps someone else out there. Regarding the VST problem..well let's say I've come to be a little more selective when I download. It turns out that VST's made with Synth Edit has been known to wreak havoc with dual core processors, especially if there are more than one instance present. (I can't go into details...I'm not an engineer, I'm merely a plumber that has been acting like a musician for the past 35 years.) I happen to come across this info when sifting through VST's on KVR. So with that I think I am in the right direction. I removed a good 90% of the FREE Vst's I had that were made with Synth edit the problem seems to be under control. VST's developed by H.G.Fortune were the most guilty which was really un"Fortune"ate because I really used them a lot. (sorry for the pun...ugh, I disgust myself sometimes) So beware if your downloading VST's are made with synth edit and you have a dual core processor. If you are having problems that might be the reason.

2) I was able to install another Gb of memory and that helped substantially. I've also been using FL9 for the boards and midi stuff while using Home Studio 7XL for all physical recording. This system has been working BEAUTIFULLY for me and I am now completely satisfied with HMS7XL.

Thanks all!

It runs fine on my computer , I run Windows XP Professional .
You wouldn't be unhappy if you were using Project 5 but CakeWalk stop making it what a shame because it works much better then Sonar Home Studio 7 XL .
Problem is Project 5 doesn't have REWIRE in it or I would still be using it now for all my recording .

Anyway I'm back to using Sonar Home Studio 7 XL and I'm not having any running issues so it must be your computer.

Good Luck!
