Kinetics 2 shutting down on me lately... Need any advice...

My K2 has been shutting down on me the last few days. when I bring up Dropzone to work in the piano's section, it loads up, but once I make the sounds I am looking for I save the work. I continue to do more work with other plugins and my session crashes and I get the Microsoft Kinetic pop up "Kinetic has encountered a problem and needs to close." Send Error Report or Don't Send options. Once the program closes, I open K2 back up and try to open my saved file and I get the same problem!!! Before this never happened.

Is it possible that my pc cant handle to many plugins at once??

My PC seems fine with multi plugins during my Sonar 8.5 sessions...

My PC System is

Win XP Media Center Edition
Version 2002
SP3

Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz
3.40GHz, 2.87 GB of RAM
149 GB Storage

My PC was custom made back in 2008.

Im sure I need some updates and more RAM added, but if anyone could help me find out why K2 crashes on me with the Dropzone plugin selection the last few days???!!!

Thanks....

You can try to do a fresh re-installation. I found that changing the default installation path to another location usually works better than simply re-installing to the original path.

There is usually registry entries that will remain after un-installing the program, so... when you re-install back to the default path-- nothing has changed because the registry entries where never deleted.

Your specs is more than adequate to run Kinetic! Sometimes things just get screwed-up with no exclamation.

Probably one of your plugins not several of them. I had this problem in the past with Project5 as well. Just take note of the last plugin you use before getting the crash. Then try repeating the steps until you can make it happen at will then remove that plugin from your folder. K2 is pretty old update wise so some newer stuff may be giving it a hard time.

Strangely, no. There is nothing quite like Kinetic. If you know the keyboard shortcuts you can build a song quickly and features like channel and pattern duplication would even speed it up more. Cakewalk was why ahead of the pack with this one but couldn't allocate the resources to keep it up to date. The closes things I can think of is Renoise 2.5, Fruitloops and Abelton Live. I mostly use Motu BPM and then there is NI Maschine. BPM does have midi out or allow for plugins but is very simular to Kinetic. Maschine has midi out and is very simular to an MPC because of the hardware software combo and the ability to compose without using a mouse and midiout as well though you cannot load plugins within it.

I really wish cakewalk would just update Kinetic getting rid of the toyish interface and adding support for multiout synths/audio routing. If they just simply take what they had with P5 and exchange the groove matrix with Kinetic's song arranger, make everything midi control assignable and keep at like $79 bucks that would be great. Just simply a synth host/ production workstation. Or get roland to make a simple hardware controller for it and make a virtual MV8000...For now enjoy Kinetic cause you still really can get down with. But yeah it needs a little love.

Cool. Thanks for your input and help. I like K2 like I said, but wanted to know if anything out there can mess with it in its own right. I dab a lil with FL Studio, but I like different things in FL and K2. I know K2 a lil more, since I was with the original Kinetics back on 2005 when I first started messing with making beats. Before that I was working on a few Drum and beat  machines. But I will look into the others and see whats good. Hope cakewalk will get back in it and make a K3 but I am not sure... Thanks again...
