Kintsugi (Broken Yet Remade)
<edit> Kintsugi is an art form where broken pottery is reassembled with gold paste or other material emphasizing the cracks. This is a seriously cracked song, but i couldn't find any gold paste so I used Elmer's glue. It is a typically overwrought prog rock song with trap trappings and bouncy reggae bits. Listen at your own risk. Thank you for the encouragement -- I've tried to polish the vocals better versus the first mix and it is improved somewhat. I think I've said this before about your music: you're in the big leagues of creativity. This takes me to the same place I go to when I listen to Peter Gabriel. This song is supremely artistic. I enjoyed that, I liked that it went in different directions but then came back to a cohesive end. Mix worked well as well, thanks for sharing.

This is really good! Very professional sounding. I would have liked to hear the vocals a bit more in the first part. I love how this song keeps evolving. You almost had a little Pink Floyd thing happening around 2:34, and then back in with the beat. This was very well done!

Thank you all for the feedback and encouragement. Lynn, thanks for the Peter G comparison -- he is one of my musical heroes. Leadfoot, I've revisited the vocal parts and hopefully made some improvements. Vocals are always my Achilles heel. Thank you for the Pink Floyd comparison as well -- Have their music in my bones, for better or worse.

Very cool stuff here... I think the vocals on this are some of the best I've ever heard from you. Very interesting song that kept me listening all the way through. Lots of nice ear candy sprinkled throughout. Congrats on this!

I was not expecting that reggae beat. Nor was I expecting the Spanish Inquisition. Just keep doing what you are doing, it's friggin excellent and creative as hell.
Modern only better. Compositionally unique. Love it.
Stellar ear candy. This must have taken you a while to get together. Super enjoyable to listen to.
Modernity may be served with just a skosh less autotune effect, but I could be wrong about that. Have you tried it without it? I bet that would sound great as well.

I found it a little too segmented, but overall it hung together. A good way to work on this is to write (and/or listen to) variations. Listen to Paganini's variations, they kind of lead to one another in a logical way, yet are segmented at the same time. Loved the ideas in this though.

Dan, thanks for the feedback -- you know how much I've struggled with vocals, so seeing your feedback is a big lift.
Tom, thank you for the positive comments. I did consciously push the autotune/melodyne a little hard at points. I will try less of that effect in my current project.
Jesse, thanks for your kind words. It is good to have praise from a fellow traveler.
Eph, thanks for listening. I agree the segmentation is a weakness. My songwriting process is mostly sitting down and improvising the next section, so sometimes the moods are distinctly disjointed. My current project is an attempt to take a more traditional approach. We'll see how that goes.

Oh yeah, I really liked that... I loved the "prog/dub/glitch/whatever works" treatment, and as said above, it's unique. While having familiar components. And that aint easy to do. And overall I think it just sounds good.
