Kirk Hunter Pop Rock Strings won't activate in Kontakt 5
I downloaded and unzipped the KH Pop Rock Strings with 7-Zip..created correct folders...had Kontakt find the path...no problem....but when I hit the activate button on Kontakt 5, it takes me to the Service Center but does not ask for my serial # and states that all products are activated. The Kirk Hunter Pop Rock Strings are NOT showing up on the service center list.....I really need help with this...thanks

If I click on a patch...it states that the patch is encypted and can't be loaded until the library is properly registered. I'm thinking registered and activate might be two different things?

Peter: This issue is actually addressed on Kirk Hunter's site....I googled this problem and others are having the exact same issue...what Kirk said to do is to go into regedit (which I really did not want to do) to delete 3 keys there...then rename all of the Pop Rock Strings folders to get rid of the first two underscores in the names...I did all of that and...nothing!...I'm still having the same problem...I sent Kirk an email...thanks

John: This is really aggravating...I don't think it's a NI issue...first of all there is not an .xml file present (and there has to be one for activation) so something is going wrong with either the zip process (and I know I did that right) , missing folder, I don't know. I'm not happy and right now the 75% off doesn't mean a thing...I had planned on using this library to record with tonight and instead spend 5 hours searching for solutions.....having to rename files and go into regedit? Ridiculous.....

PEACE @ Amour013 Would you mind posting that in the KVR thread I linked to in my earlier post? Kirk checks that thread multiple times each day and has already made a number of improvements based on people's feedback/suggestions. As this stuff is software after all, there's always room for improvement and it can be done fairly quickly, since it's a digital download and not packaged in a box. Thanks, Peter

I had this initial problem too. But I had not copied the files properly to my library folders. The "info" folders which tell Kontakt that this is a recognized Kontakt "Library" were in the wrong place. Once I had that sorted and Kontakt DID see it (using the "add library" button) and add it as a K4 library then when I tried to open an instance it asked me to activate and took me to the service center and I did so...no probs. Is your Kontakt seeing it as a full blown Kontakt Library (with the Logo bar inside the Kontakt Browser)??

I'm not at my DAW now but there are two files (cant remember the extensions...they are both different) that are the info files that Kontakt needs to recognize this as a full Kontakt "Library". They are outside the samples folder not in it (that was my blunder). Once in the proper place you can click the "add library" button in the Kontakt browser window and it will scan it and add it to the full Library lists in the Kontakt browser. Don't know how many you've got but I have several, Steven Slate Drums, Mojo Horns, Akoustiks Pianos, Alicias Keys, etc.... They appear under the Kontakt Library header each with their own Logo bar. If you've installed and added the Pop/Rock strings correctly this is what you'll see. I think the larger KH libraries only run as libraries in the database and you have to "browse" to them to load them...like most third party libraries. The instructions on how to load those two info files ARE in the directions KH supplies with download instructions. HTH.

So, the KH libraries do not have their own colorful graphic, but are just listed within the Kontakt library folder.

I’m still using Kontakt 4 so this may be different in 5 but in 4 if you are clicking on add library you will get that message. I added Diamond to quick-load and everything works fine. I hope this helps.

Gaffpro Ok, all the Diamond files are unzipped, but Kontakt 5 is stating that no library is found...can someone please walk me through this Diamond install? Thanks! There is no authorization needed with Native Instruments; so you do not use the Launch Service center like you do with the Pop/Rock strings. i know because I asked on the KVRAudio thread and Kirk Hunter replied. So depending where you have the library residing, what you will need to do is to make sure that you have a path for it set up in the Options/Database section of Kontakt (I am using 4.2.4); however, if you installed them as a subdirectory within/under your Kontakt library, then it will show up in the list of Kontakt's library, BUT there is no pretty KH Diamond GUI logo on the Kontakt Libraries page. Just click on one of the instruments and it will load it. BTW, I am still having problems with Diamond in that some of the violin samples are reported as missing by Kontakt. What I have to do is to check "search filesystem" when that error appears and it finds and loads the "missing" samples. It is a nuisance, but it is a workaround for me. You got to check out the Romantic violin found under the TVEC 3.1 menu, then 00 violins instruments, then 01 violins, then a 1st Violins 18,9,4,1 (1 Romantic) Players--it is tearfully beautiful!

Maybe it's just me... but the issues I had installing KH Diamond and with others I see here with their own "workarounds" is BS as far as I'm concerned. I'll say it again..... if this library wasn't at 75% off I would have asked for a refund already. After a lengthy download, a manual installation that failed following the instructions, troubleshooting, renaming and restructuring the folder tree, I did get it running stable now and it does sound amazing. Although I do not see a penny more value in this package than the price I ended up paying for it..... and maybe even less.

Gaffpro Ok, all the Diamond files are unzipped, but Kontakt 5 is stating that no library is found...can someone please walk me through this Diamond install? Thanks! I'm pretty sure that ONLY the POP/ROCK strings show up as a full blown "Library" in Kontakt. Everything else you just have to browse to like most other 3rd party libraries. Tho I could be wrong about this. Maybe edrummist will chime in here.

Although I do not see a penny more value in this package than the price I ended up paying for it..... and maybe even less. Wow. Don't you think that's kind of an extreme statement regarding the value of the Diamond library, especially when you've described the library stating it "sounds amazing"? Out of more than 530 people in the Group Buy, there have been maybe 30-40 people that reported experiencing difficulties/issues/confusion from here on KVR and from what I know of via Kirk; just take a look at the 150+ page GB thread on KVR and you'll find at least 50 posts from customers who bought the same library who are ecstatic about it. I've made fast friends with one of them, a professional games music developer employed by a games company and he owns a lot of competitor orchestral libraries and has sent me numerous PMs raving about Diamond. I know of lots of others too, including A-list composers like Jeff Beal who used Diamond on a bunch of American tv shows like Ugly Betty (e.g., the main theme and a ton of the cues; listen for the romantic violin -- you'll recognize it!), Medium, etc. Even Jay Asher, who's written for tv/movies as well as pop artists like Julio Iglesias, Whitney Houston, and Donna Summer and is now working for EWQL and continues to praise Kirk Hunter Studios libraries. That said, there have been a number of posts and PMs with customer recommending improvements for documentation, so I certainly don't mean to downplay that aspect of your experience. I have, in fact, spoke to Kirk about improving documentation and he agreed to address this area. I've since set him up with a former writer from a popular American music magazine who is now working with Kirk on improving manuals/documentation/directions. As far as uncompressing files (the problem you posted about it) there has been a number of people experiencing confusion with that and Kirk has made some changes based on feedback, but I'd recommend that you email Kirk or post in the KVR support thread and I'm confident Kirk will listen to your feedback. Did you email him when you were experiencing problems? So. beyond the problems you had uncompressing files and the resulting file structure issues, now that you're up and running (and considering that you could have found answers for your issues from emailing Kirk or posting in the GB or support threads at KVR), do you really feel that "(you) do not see a penny more value in this package than the price (you) ended up paying for it..... and maybe even less " or is it that the frustration over the bad experience you had uncompressing files after that monster 65+ GB download? I've advised Kirk on marketing and product strategy on this Group Buy and did market research and analysis that basically resulted in my determining that there WAS a significant price gap between entry level hobbyist orchestral sample libraries (e.g., GPO, Miroslav, etc.) and pro libraries from developers like Kirk Hunter Studios, Audio Bros, Project Sam and EWQL that I predicted, created a significant opportunity for the first pro level orchestral sample libraries priced in between these two classes of orchestral libraries. With this GB, Diamond is currently even priced below GPO. Now, KHS may try adjusting prices in the future, but even my bottom price recommendations for the various KHS libraries are two to three times the Group Buy prices. Beyond your frustration over setup issues, do you really feel that, in your view, Diamond is worth less than GPO or Miroslav? If so, can I ask your level of experience with orchestral libraries and the basis for your pricing analysis or at least the names of the libraries you are comparing to make that analysis? - Peter

Ok, got Diamond loaded and am going through the samples. 2 questions here: 1. Many of the strings do not go below the "G" key (the one to the left of middle C if you have a typical 61 key synth) is this the way it's supposed to be? 2. Several of the samples show up but do no play at all....right now I'm taling about the TVEC samples
