Komplete 10 Ultimate crossgrade question.

I looked on the NI site and am a didn't find an answer. I figured I'd get it quick here.
First: do I need to do anything with Kontakt 5 that I got last November?
Second: Do I install VSTs on my C drive and samples on my samples drive, like I think I would. The little hard drive makes me wonder, but from what little I did learn I do indeed do what I said there.
I suppose there will be instructions when I register it and install tomorrow.
Do most people install everything? I guess I will seeing as I paid for it.

I half expect the instructions to be confusing and that's why I'm asking here before I start.
Thanks,
J

I always install my VST's in my Cakewalk/VSTPlugins directory
and samples on my Sample Drive...

All you need is Kontakt for the crossgrade...

That's what I thought Larry but was prepared to be confused, lol. Thanks! The HDD confused me a little but I guess it is so I wont have to spend all day downloading things.

    JBow,
The HD install takes a good amount of time and it installs everything by default.
The big surprise is when you go to Service Center and find out most of what you just installed needs updating.
The updating part took hours and didn't do it automatically. I had to select each update one-at-a-time and wait until each was done before selecting the next one.

Not really a big deal. Just give yourself the extra time to do it all.

Thanks Mike. That is good to know, I hope NI updated the drive. I got it from SW and they were out for a few days. They got a new stock, you'd think NI would have done the updates on the drives but I probably hope for too much.. I am flush with time and I'm good at sitting down! LOL.
I wish there was a market for "to do" lists. I'd make some money!

If you have high speed internet, it's not too bad. A little time consuming because there is no "install all" button and you need to do each one - one at a time. Kind of annoying but the downloads aren't too bad. Just make sure to back up your samples from that point and you're golden if you ever need to reinstall.

WOW... the initial install from the HD wasn't too bad, a couple of hours and it installed everything with one click. Then took the authorization with no problem, all products are authorized HOWEVER... the updates, all failed the first try. Then I directed it to the right place, took over an hour for one update, but it downloaded and installed. I may need to lug my DAW upstairs and hook it straight to the modem. I'm using an ASUS USB wireless adapter, it's been OK with Sonar updates but for some reason these are slow. Maybe tomorrow I'll finish.
    Thanks for the heads up.
    TerraSin too!

    Jbow,
My updating was slow too and I have a wired internet connection.
I think the slowness is coming from the NI servers.
Just keep at it and eventually you will get all the updates.

In answer to the first question - I read it was preferred to put the applications themselves on the C drive - so I put them there.  I directed the rest of the install, which is the giant part, to go onto another drive.

The install from the hard drive, while it takes time, was absolutely painless.  The updates, via the Internet, took a goodly amount of time.  There's a lot in the whole package.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.
