Kontakt 4.2.2 and Vintage Organs
I just read that Orange Tree's new Steel Guitar needs Kontakt 4.2.2 (several other libraries are also being relleased that use new features added in the latest updates such as Music Lab Machines from Hollow Sun.). I thought I had better post a link here that will concern Vintage Organ users. http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=132346 Hopefully NI will get their act together soon, I would like to be able to run both Steel Strings and Vintage Organs but it looks like its one or the other at the moment. I updated to 4.2.2 before I was aware of the problem. I still have B4II at least.

Fabulous - they update a product that makes one of their other products not work! What's that saying about one hand not knowing what the other is doing.... Glyn, thanks for the update. What I might do is see if I can install the latest version but keep the old version (I already have kept an old version of Kontact 3 on my machine for old stuff that needed 3 - I actually can't even remember what they were as I think they got updated!) So keeping two version of 4 should work OK whilst they sort their life out - also we may find other packages simularly effected Thanks again for the heads up Nigel

Glyn, I have been following that thread also. I believe you can use Vintage Organ with Kontakt 4.2.2. What you can not do is change the sound by moving the drawbars, something every Hammond player does. So if the presets fit your needs then you are ok. What’s bothering me is the amount of time it’s taking to fix this bug. After all they dropped B4II, the best Hammond emulation ever IMHO, for Vintage Organ and now Vintage Organ have one major handicap. Go figure!

Yes, Presets are OK, and any custom NKI you had made in 4.1 will open correctly. I also think, but cannot confirm if you have an existing project where the drawbars were set in the old version. I did not notice the problem because I did not use VO much after upgrading. I am away until early may so I can't check now. You are also correct about NI taking a long time to fix this issue.

ACK! previous versions of kontakt cause X1 to crash on me, so I have to use 4.2.2!!! thanks for the headsup, Glyn - I can probably stick to the presets until the patch is available.

Gosh. I've never used Kontakt, but it looks like a dream come true! All the stuff I see it do in youtube demos is just amazing! I think I want to run out and spend 400 bucks Right Away and get a copy. Then get a whole lot of other really costly libraries that are supposed to work with it. Which version was it again that actually works??

My Kontakt 4.2.2 is exhibiting fairly regular and odd problems. After inserting more than two or three instruments in an instance of Kontakt I fairly often get shut off of all audio and then just clicks and pops when trying to play the project back. Only solution seems to be shut down X1 and then reopen. Sometimes I have to delete that instance of Kontakt and reinstate. Ain't life grand?

Just curious, but have you tried clicking on the audio engine button rather than completely bouncing Sonar? I have an eight year old machine I use for my DAW and an upgrade is being planned, so this doesn't bother me all that much. But I find certain synths (under both 8.0 and X1) will cause the Sonar audio engine to shut down if I'm playing a lot of notes. I've tried increasing the output sample buffer size to 2048 (from 512, I recall) and it makes zero difference. But I get playback restored by just clicking the audio engine button in Sonar.

4.2.3 is released - check in service centre. I have not tested extensively, but the problem seems to be resolved and the draw bars are working correctly

Just saw this thread but the NI Kontakt 5 is out and Vintage Organs works now. Also it works with the Alicia Keys piano and some old stuff like Art Vista Grand 1 & 2. Laying in some smooth B3 glue on a couple of tracks now. Amazing sound.
