Kontakt 5 Settings Question

I am a novice at this and have recently purchased Kontakt 5 (full version).  I cannot figure out how to set up Kontakt to work properly in SONAR 8.5 Studio.

Everytime I stop playback, the Kontakt instrument continues playing and I can't get it to stop.  I tried changing a few things and now my latency is crazy!

I admit that I have no idea what I am doing and was wondering if anyone might have suggestions for tweaking Kontakt as a plug-in with SONAR!

Thanks for the help!

For starters: Give your system specs and tell us what you did when you did not know what you were doing.

How did you insert Kontakt? What did you change to get the latency? I assume your system is capable of running Kontakt5? Is Kontakt synced to the host?

IIRC Kontakt has a very well written manual (at least used to have). Have you read it through, really read?

Basicly, there are no special tweaks for Kontakt, it acts like all the other romplers and soft synths.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

I would STRONGLY suggest you watch NI's video on kontakt and perhaps invest in

    http://www.groove3.com/str/kontakt-explained.html

with regard to kontakt you can set it up in various modes and as for your latency, you mean audio or keyboard ?

seems there are a few people on here who don't like reading manuals or even watching videos.. it's not an interesting thing, but a means to an end.

SONAR SE 8.5.3, Dell Inspiron, 2.53 Ghz i5 CPU, 6Gb RAM, Edirol UA-4FX - Kontakt 5, Superior Drummer 2, Addictive Drums

I started by looking at Kontakt's options and under MEMORY, I increased the preload buffer size.
I then went into my Audio settings and changed the ASIO panel's buffer size.  First increasing it and then decreasing it.

I inserted Kontakt as a Soft Synth from SONAR's Insert menu and am not sure if it is synced to the host.  I assume it is since I inserted it as a soft synth.

I did check Kontakt's manual and did not find much help there.  It states,
"The way in which virtual instrument plug-ins are integrated into the workflow very much
depends on your sequencer; consult its documentation to find out how to instantiate and
    work with the KONTAKT plug-in."

Any ideas on how to get the note to stop playing after playback?  Also, I do get some clicks and pops when using Kontakt.  I have been a user of Dimension Pro for a while and never have had any issues with that.

    Thanks for your help!

I assume you mean a note or notes is stuck on.

If so, there is a button (i think on the transport of sonar). It is a "panic" button. This will cut off the hanging note.

That said, I don't think your problem has anything to do with latency or buffer sizes, it has to do with either sonar or kontact not recognizing the proper midi ccs related to sustain. So, in your case, sustain is always on or something.

Sorry I don't have an answer and I have run into the same problem. So, I'm basically giving your thread a bump.
