Kontakt - Get each instance to remember instrument browser

(I thought I had posted this, but I couldn't find it in the forum so I suppose the Firefox 6 bug ate it).

I often use multiple instances of Kontakt: one for drums, one for horns, one for piano, etc.  Each time I open Sonar, those instances' brower panels (on the left) reset to the default.

I would love if each Kontakt instance remembered its previous browser panel state.  So, if the drums instance has the Abbey Roads library on the left, the brass has the database open with Brass selected, and the piano has some pianos listed on the left... then when I close and reopen Sonar, I'd like to see the browser in the same state that I left it.

Is there a way for force Sonar or Kontakt to save the state of the browser (on the left) along with the instruments (on the right)?

Is there some reason for loading up so many instances of Kontakt? As for your question I have the Browser in the multidock at the bottom and don't know what you are asking about.

I am talking about the Kontakt browser, the panel on the left with the headers: "Files | Libraries | Database | Monitor | Modules | Auto"

(If I can get the browser state to be remembered, that would be another advantage of separate Kontakt instances.)

I read the post you referenced. I still don't get it. I use Kontakt 4 at present and use one instance of it and load as many modules as I need or it will handle. I don't have a problem with the outputs of Kontakt.  I use the mixer it provides and output to the tracks in Sonar. Each track is a different instrument. I'm not sure how multiple instances would be beneficial. Also one can use aux from within Kontakt and have those output to tracks of their own.

For the GUI of Kontakt because I have normally one instance I leave it open and it stays as I left it when I close the project and open it again.

I also have dual monitors and if one has just the one I wouldn't do that I don't think.

I'm not sure how multiple instances would be beneficial.

We can discuss multiple vs single Kontakt instances in the other topic: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2253267

This topic, however, is about how to get Kontakt to remember its browser state.  This applies to single-instance Kontakt usage as well.

For the GUI of Kontakt because I have normally one instance I leave it open and it stays as I left it when I close the project and open it again.

    Is this correct:

    1) open or create a project in Sonar
    2) open or create a Kontakt instance
    3) click the "Database" tab in the Kontakt browser
    4) click "Organ"
    5) click "Pipe Organ"
    6) save your project
    7) close Sonar
    8) open Sonar
    9) load your project
    10) open the Kontakt instance (if it doesn't already appear)

Is Database / Organ / Pipe Organ still selected in Kontakt's browser?  Or did the database reset to the default view?

If it is not opened already when you load a project I don't see how it will know what state you want it in. If you have to open it it would revert to a default one would think.

Sonar is able to remember the state of Kontakt's instruments (in the right panel).  So if you change the reverb amount on a piano, Sonar remembers that change, even if you close the Kontakt instance.

However, Sonar does not remember the state of Kontakt's browser (in the left panel).  At least it doesn't for me.  What I would like is for Sonar to remember the state of the Kontakt browser.  Is there a way to make that happen?

Do you understand my question?  Do I need to restate it again?  And again?  And again?  Does ANYONE understand my question???

Sorry if I'm no help to you. I do think you are asking for something that is not possible at present.

Does Sonar have access to Kontakt's browser state?  If so, then can Sonar be changed/hacked/customized in such a way that it saves Kontakt's browser state along with the project?

How does Sonar determine which of a soft synth's parameters to remember and which are considered "temporary"?  It seems to remember all settings within the Kontakt instruments (e.g., the groove sequencer in West African Drums, the groove you select in Studio Drummer), even if they are not automatable.  Somehow all that information gets saved in the project file.

Yet the browser state gets treated as temporary.  And that's what I'm wondering about.  It seems like it would be an easy (and small) thing to include in the saveable data.

So does Kontakt not externalize that information, or does Sonar intentionally ignore it?  That's my big question.
