Kontakt player causing CPU spikes

Does anyone else have issues with the Kontakt free player causing CPU issues? I have narrowed it down to kontakt being the problem software. It will run fine and then all of a sudden multiple cores on my CPU will begin to spike through the roof. If I freeze Kontakt it goes away and everything runs fine until I unfreeze Kontakt and then the CPU goes nuts. This is a new issue to me as I have been running the free player with Cinesamples Hollywoodwinds for some time now without problems. I haven't added anything new or upgraded anything so it has me baffled. Any advice? Similar experience? Solutions? Thanks in advance.
