Korg N series with cakewalk

Hey man

I´m using cakewalk sonar and a Korg N1r.
I also use korg`s bundled software (sen1n5) program which lets you make 32 performances and change the effect, but I am having reliability problems with this software.
I would prefer to use bank/patch change commands in cakewalk to choose sounds for each midi channel, but is there a way to change the korg`s effects in cakewalk?

Cheers man

A few years ago I had a Korg N5, and the software in question, and it never worked properly.
I had better results tweaking the N5 with it's own controllers, and programming everything from there.
It's a bit cumbersome, but a lot more reliable than the software.
The N5 has a few cool sounds, but I got rid of it, mostly because of the questionable software and lack of support from dealer and Korg themselves.

    Waigy,

    Welcome to the forum.

Are you using an Instrument definition file for the Korg N1R?

Which effects on the Korg do you want to change from Sonar?

I have an N1R and connect it using a Yamaha UX256 USB midi
module, because it has PC Host connections as well as normal Midi
    Din connectors.

    Regards,
    Colin.

    Waigy,

In my experience the Korg N1R is quite simple to controll from SONAR

You need to make sure you have the correct instrument definition file from here

If you use the PC host connection on the back you get an extra 16 channels on top of the original 16

As ColinB52 said, what do you want to on the korg using sonar? also what version of Sonar are you using?

    Hope this helps,

    Dan

BTW ColinB52 can i borrow the host cable? Hughfaringdon are thinking of doing The Wiz and i wanna show them Emerald city

    Cake or Death?????
    Er Cake Please!

Thanks for the replies, but I sussed it myself last night.
For anyone else that might need this info here´s how I did it.

Started the korg sound editor program (sen1n5) then started Cakewalk.
In my track, I opened the event list view, then inserted a new event at the time I wanted an effect change.
Then changed the event type to sysex data.
I put the track on a 4 bar loop then, in the sen1n5 program in performance mode, clicked on the edit common button and cycled through some effects till I got the one I wanted.
One good thing about the sen1n5 program is that it shows you the sysex data numbers and letters everytime you change something.
I then copied the sysex numbers into the sysex data column in cakewalk´s new event.
