Korg NanoKontrol no longer show up in Sonar

I had set my Korg NanoKontrol as the default transport controller in Sonar. It was working perfectly fine for a while, then Sonar all of a sudden stopped recognizing the NanoKontrol in the list of MIDI devices. My other apps still recognize the NanoKontrol and I can still use it with other apps, but Sonar just don't recognize it at all. I tried unplugging and reinstalling the driver for the NanoKontrol but it didn't help. How can I force Sonar to recognize it?

Did you switch to 64-bit Sonar?

That's not the issue AFAIK. I've been using 64-bit Sonar and NanoKontrol was running just fine with it. One day it just stopped showing up in Sonar.

That shouldn't matter since Sonar can't see the NanoKontrol at all. It's not even listed in the list of MIDI devices anymore.

Maybe I need to completely uninstall the Korg driver and and reinstall it?

That's not it because other apps can recognize the NanoKontrol, and it's only Sonar that can't.

    Hello Lunatique,

I was able to do a full uninstall and then go back into the regedit and delete every instance of Korg. I would suggest deleting every folder in the regedit trees. Just go through each one and then restart the system. At that point I would reinstall the drivers for the Korg NanoKontrol and then see if it pops up in Sonar X1. I was able to just use the setup in MicroKontrol and then rename it to the NanoKontrol and tweak the channel strips from there. I am still trying to figure out how to get the channel strip 9 to run as my master fader. I am waiting on tech support to send me an email to that effect. I can run the channel strips 1 - 8 with the knobs triggering the panpots and the faders handling the volume. The transport play/stop loaded clean, just trying to get the rest to line up. But this should hopefully get you up and running.

    Hello Lunatique,

I forgot to mention that I was able to change the MicroKontrol in the ACT Midi Controller section. I had been using the Cakewalk Generic Control Surface, but the Cakewalk tech support rep. requested that the Cakewalk Generic Control Surface be deleted and just to use the ACT Midi Controller Setup. This was a lot easier to setup with the faders and panpots, but the buttons and running the master fader on Channel strip 9 as I stated in the other message is still in the works. But hopefully it will be a simple addition to save in the ACT Midi Controller Setup.

    Hi,
I am having the same problem with the nanokrontrol II. I got Sonarx1 to see the midi divice once but no more. I can unhook and rehook the nano at the usb and vista is seeing the nano but no luck for sonar. Is there a fix?

NanoKontrol works fine here on X1b and 8.5.3, I'm also running the O/S and Sonar in 64 bit.

It's been a while but I did experience a problem with the NanoKontrol at one time. Turned out to be due to changing the USB port that I originally installed it on. I believe that anytime you move the nano series to a new USB port that you need to reinstall the korg driver for that port. It really does not make sense that the NanoKontrol works in other apps if it is a driver issue...

Is it possible you may have opened Sonar with the NanoKontrol not connected and received a msg. saying midi device missing? (grasping at straws...)

    Kind regards,
    Rick

Check to make sure that the nanokontrol is selected as a midi driver. I've had that happen. Once I did that I made sure the midi devices were correct in the control surface add/delete window.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.
