Korg Triton takTile 25 transport controls not working with Sonar Platinum

I submitted a support request to Cakewalk, but its seems these guys are backlogged or don't exist anymore.

Your case number is 339971. For your records, your inquiry is copied below:

Trying to get the Korg Triton takTile 25 Transport controls to work. Korg documentation suggests using the Mackie Control, but the DAW mappings do not seem correct. I have a document showing on the screen shots from the Korg Kontrol editor but I cannot seem to upload with this page. It is setup for Sonar. I asked them if they tested with the latest and greated Platinum but I have not heard from them yet. The Mackie Control dialog shows this is not been updated since 2006.

I have since been trying to configure the TRTK25 using ACT MIDI Controller plug-in instead of the Mackie Control.   I was optimistic to see there are some Korg Kontrol-based presets, but none for the Triton takTile25.  I see in the documentation "Configuring the ACT MIDI Controller Plug-in" buttons assigned to Transport | Rewind, Transport | Play, etc., but they do not show up in the droplist.  I think the documentation is old, the MIDI Learn button is no longer named the same.

The documentation for ACT MIDI Controller plug-in seems to focus on managing plug-ins, versus creating mappings.   I need to get the TRTK25 transport buttons to control Sonar Platinum, and I think the mapping is wrong.

I also seems that the Mackie Control options has not been touched since 2006.

Has anyone has similar challenges?

MackieControl was touched (at least recompiled), but the label was not updates...

I guess Korg (as most other) "forgot" to implement Mackie handshake. That is why it does not work out of the box (you should see "Connecting..." in the Control Surface toolbar module).

    Your options:
    1. ACT MIDI should work fine after learning, but do not mix "ACT Learn" button with MIDI learn (left clicking on the control widget, see Sonar Reference Manual). The same with Generic surface controller.
    2. http://www.azslow.com/index.php/topic,341.0.html You will need this mod of MackieControl.dll, it has "disable handshake" button in preferences.
    3. The rest is AZ Controller based. For example: http://www.azslow.com/index.php/topic,329.msg1722.html#msg1722
But you can create your own basic preset relatively fast, whatch Startup Preset on YouTube (link to the channel is in the top right corder of my site).

Thanks I will look into this.
I thought this one is related.

Yes, that thread (any some other) are related.
You have explicitly asked for "Mackie Control" and so my answers was Mackie oriented. In general:
    * Mackie Control is one from 2 widely available MIDI protocols with defined feedback (LEDs, faders, display) support
    * Korg controllers are arbitrary configurable, but as simple MIDI only (since no motor faders, no encoders, no display)
    * they have some LEDs, so they have a layout (and some tweaks inside firmware) for Mackie Control
    * they have not implemented Mackie handshake, so this mode (unlike what they still write in the documentation) is not working with Sonar strock Mackie Control plug-in.

Depending how Korg is configured (which messages control send), "Cakewalk ACT MIDI" is able or unable to recognize controls. "Generic Surface" can recognize more messages. "AZ Controller" can recognize any message (and support feedback).

So far not many user defined presets for Korg devices was published. Creating such preset takes several minutes (in any plug-in). Several minutes more for LED feedback (with AZ Controller, other 2 are not supporting feedback). The only requirement is to put Korg back from emulated "Mackie Mode" back to its native simple MIDI mode.

Thank you so much for the reference for AZ Controller.  I am working with TouchDAW, so it sounds like this is a universal 'challenge' in Sonar.  Nils told me to reach out to you directly for that.
