Krispy Kreme... worse than a twinkies jag?
My wife and I went to Mr Tans for the tofu and mixed veggies last night. Yikes the Mongolian Tofu is soooooo good. Why did I have to stop at the Krispy Kreme and get those hot and fresh donuts and the small coffee on the way back out here? Why? Oh... Why? It's been a few years... but now I remember it like it was yesterday. Get in my belly. :-) Happy New Year. best regards, mike

Yikes the Mongolian Tofu is soooooo good. Especially when washed down with the obligatory mung bean smoothie. Yammy!

what's a "jag"? I don't recall ever hearing that except in the context of the US Navy. there used to be a Krispy Kreme just about 2 miles from me and it was on the way to work... but they closed it down. guess it wasn't getting enough business with all of the "mom and pop" doughnut shops around.

A jag* is like a hangover that hasn't started because you will not leave the party. We bought a dozen. *just the way I grew up hearing it used... may not have anything to do with what is in the dictionary. :-)

Jag isn't even used over here but I still knew what was meant. I think the word I'd likely have used would be 'bender' or perhaps even 'fest' it would have been something that similarly conveyed an over-indulgent detour though. 'Krispy Kreme' is the stranger bit to grasp here for me as it seems like a proprietary name for a 'ring doughnut'. I doubt what we'd call a doughnut quite hits the same spot as a Krispy Kreme though, as the doughnuts you get from grocery stores here are either too dry (stale) or too stodgy or more commonly both those things. Doughnuts are best served fresh for sure.

ah! I've never heard that slang term. I would have understood "bender" or "fest" tho. Krispy Kremes are very good, tho! I could easily "binge" on them!

Krispy Kremes have killed the productivity of more than one meeting I've been in - pretty much killed things after the meeting as well... LOL!

Depending on where you visit in the UK you'd probably find the best replacement in a local bakers. There are regional delicacies that serve the same purpose but are called different things, i.e. 'Drippers' in the Gloucestershire region and 'Yum Yums' further north those kind of things have the required excess of fat and sugar that satisfies... We don't get twinkies over here either, I'm not actually sure what one of those is.

Krispy Kreme is HQ'd in Winston Salem NC. I had a few jobs to do in WS and had the opportunity to stop at their HQ donut shop. Got those glazed beauties as they were coming off the cooker.... They expanded a bit to fast (as a company) and over extended..... when the market turned down, they ended up in bankruptcy and had to sell off or close a bunch of locations. They still have quite a few locations here in NC so we get them when we want.... aside from the health aspect of eating lots of donuts.... yeah we have them on the counter every now and then. the chocolate glazed are pure evil...... in such a tasty disguise. As far as the video.... that was horrible, not to mention those kids know nothing of safe handling of firearms. JAG= Judge Advocate General?

There is not much better than a hot Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut... we recently got a Dunkin' Donuts so I figure Krispy can't be far behind. I imagine that they are sort of like Loews and Home Depot. One pops up and soon the other does too. Dunkin' is OK but they aren't Krispy Kreme.. good or bad?? Who cares? ..as long as they are hot and fresh, you only live once. I can proudly say that I have never purposely eaten tofu... I think they put it in the egg drop soup at one Chinese restuarant where I eat Mongolian Beef. That is one dish I want to learn how to cook but I haven't found a good recipe. J

I saw the scariest Krispy Kreme combo ever, at the CNE this year. The midway was a buzz about this particular hamburger. It was a huge burger with bacon and cheese, topped with a fried egg. Instead of a bun they used a KK glazed. It was gross, yet strangely compelling.

There's a foot race here in Raleigh every year. The start and run... 5 kilometers? I think to the Krispy Kreme on Person Street, fill up on doughnuts then run back to the starting point. I think it's called The Run and Ralph.

Hey Greg... wanna go eat a belly full of krispy kreme donuts and then go run 3 miles? 5km = 3.10686 miles.... I figure if we cut close on the corners... (hopefully they have corners) we can get that to under 3 miles... and maybe there isn't a time limit.... half a day sounds like a reasonable time.... They probably have a rescue squad or two on standby.....

We had a KK one town over. Stayed open for maybe a year and a half. Everyone thought they were too sweet and too much glaze. They've been out of business now for about 5 years and as far as I know, know one in NJ has attempted to open another. I could go into PA and get them but I too thought they were rather gross. We have an old fashioned donut shop here in town called OP-CO's and they make amazing, delicious homemade doughnuts and fritters. Mmmmm-Mmmmm. Nothing even comes close. If you're not there by 8AM you're out of luck. All sold out. Mike
