Kudos for Jonas Aras
I just finished my 11 song project and it's being reproduced at the "factory" right now. Now that I've got time to breathe I want to publicly thank Jonas Aras who lurks on this forum. As a relative newcomer to all this stuff, I engaged Jonas to finalize my mixes and then master the project. He took my sonar bun files (I mailed em to him) and carried them through to a final mastered product. The bass and the kick drum are distinct and thump when they should and are smooth when they should be. The cymbals sound beautiful. The vocal sits nicely in the mix. Even though I'm on the east coast and Jonas is on the west coast, it was easy to work together and we needed to talk on the phone very little. Jonas is a good guy who reads between the email's lines and is very customer oriented. All this at a reasonable price. If you need mastering work, he's your man.

Well I would like thank Jonas for all of his expertise that he freely shares with the group. His ozone presets were a great gift to us. Whenever I see the back of his head, there at the piano, I make sure to read that post. Thanks for all your help. Thanks alot !!! Terry <BOYCOTT CLEAR CHANNEL>

Ditto here... Jonas, your Avatar's got to stay, that is, unless you issue a public service announcement that it's changing. And one more thing... Behringer Truths are unbearably dark. (I've never heard them, but for some odd reason I can't get that out of my head.)

Yes, Jonas is a prime reason I keep coming back here. He has been extremely patient with me while teaching me new production goodies.

And one more thing... Behringer Truths are unbearably dark. (I've never heard them, but for some odd reason I can't get that out of my head.) Humm... mine are black ... however I've used the adjustement knobs on the back to reduce the bass output because my room is very small and the monitors are pretty much located in the corners. Once I did that, it helped me produce output that sounds pretty good. Fred

Thanks, Fred, but that was just a bit of a tongue-in-cheek comment on behalf of Jonas (since this isn't really a technical thread but a Jonas praise thread). Sorry for the confusion, if any. Jonas has been known to make that particular comment on many technical threads around here on the choice of NFM's, and I thought I'd be clever and punch it up as a kind of "byline" for him. EDIT: But I did stop short of calling him something superlative like "The Dark Behringer Avenger" (well, at least until now, anyway).

Oh - Well I'll revise my post to say: Mine are very dark black, but if it'll help, I'll paint them silver!

On a listening test thread there was talk about how even the appearance of your monitors can influence your experience of how they sound. Maybe we should all just all close our eyes when we mix and/or master.

The Behringer brand gets beat up on a lot, and I can't say I like the fact it's all made in China. However I like the Behringer components I have (mics, monitors, mixer). I do close my eyes a lot while mixing, etc. - it helps.
