Hi Joomtoonz, First, try using an Internet search engine and use a lot of variations on search terms like "Kurzweil Instrument Definition". I did that and found a lot of hits. Next, here is a link to files available from Cakewalk. You'll need to weed through them to see if anything helpful is there: Downloaded Instrument Definition Files Sometimes a manufacturer will post Instrument Defintion Files for their products. Kurzweil has reference to this on their FTP server so check this out: Kurzweil Downloads And if you can't find any, do consider creating one on your own and then share your valuable labor with other PC2R owners. Here are some links to locations on the Internet that have helpful hints about creating these files for your instrument. Please note that if you have customized or created your own patches/patchnames on your instrument then you may be better off creating your own INS file rather trying to use a canned file that probably only supports the factory default patches of the instrument: How To Create or Modify an Instrument Definition and How to Build a Cakewalk INS File Finally, here is an online Kurzweil PC2 tutorial that you may find helpful. They have a section entitled "Working with an External Sequencer": Tutorial: PC2 Made Easy

Techead, Thanks for all the info. These are resources of which I was aware; I was trying the "easy way out" before building my own .ins .

You're welcome. I understand about the easy way out. Wouldn't it be great if there was a bigger repository with more in it for this kind of thing?

Jimtoonz, if you'd care to post an address, I'll send you my ins file which contains (among other things) the pc2x banks including the orch rom. You could copy/past that bank into your file. -Ron

Folks, Would you mind sending a copy of the pc2x intrument definition file to me at hemanchoy@gmail.com. Just bought a pc1x and haven't found the file for it yet. So I intend to use the pc2x file as a template for making one. Thank you.

The PC1X doesn't come with a CD unfortunately. I've got the PC2X INS file from Rich (which came from Ron originally). Modified it for the PC1X using a text editor. It includes definitions for the Orch ROM. Did some basic tests and it seems to work. Thanks folks. If anyone is interested for the Instrument Definition file for PC1X, I will be happy to email it you. My email address is hemanchoy@gmail.com. BTW, can you select the PC2X factory defined effects from Sonar? If so, how would you do it? I might need to use the same technique on my PC1X.

Ron, Thanks ! You are a gentleman and (apparently, from your email address) a scholar. Jimtoonz
