LAKELAND BASS GUITAR QUESTION

hi all

i would some advice about lakeland bassguitars....
i actually i am a mostly electronic guy but i used to play bass ages ago...the other day i went to a guitarstore and just for the fun of it i tested some basses ...actually i tested models from 1000 to 2100 dollars ...and the more expensive they were the better they sounded (ok..what a big discovery anyway :-) the last bass i tested was a lakeland jazzbass (lake placid) with passive pickups...and actually i immediately fell in love with it - it even sounded great with my foolish playing - whatever - i have to buy that one !
since i am not into the subject i wanted to hear some statements asbout that company and what others think about it...
please just post feedback about lakeland ...i dont want this thread to become a battlefield...

thanks

btw. the lakeland was the 2100 dollar bass (which probably is also due to the high euro)

cheers

PS: it was a 4 string darryl jones signature model (i guess not the us version)

PPS: HOLY CRAP: i just looked for it at american online stores and ther it costs 1200 DOLLARS - thats HALF THE PRICE OF THAT IN EUROPE!!!!! i hate the EU anyway

    I'm assuming you mean LAKLAND?

I've got the 44-01 - it's a very nice bass. Well made, stays in tune, active and passive electronics so you can get a lot of different sounds with it. I run it through an Avalon U5 DI or my Neve Portico or both depending on what sound I want to get. It's very versatile and comfortable for someone who is a P-bass type player. And, it's cheap. I picked mine up at a local bass store for ~$700 US dollars.
