LAYERS: Anyway to hide layers you don't want to see?
I have 8 tracks of drums. Each track has 3 layers (3 takes). Is there a way to hide the layers I'm not using? That way I can use audio snap on all 8 tracks and be able to see only the transients on the takes I want to edit.

I do not think so. Are you keeping audio from the hidden layers playing? If so I'd just break them out to their own tracks.

What's the thinking behind leaving takes as layers as opposed to converting them to separate tracks? There's some nice take management in layers, but other than that, I'm not seeing the point. What am I missing here?

What am I missing here? You're missing a lot. Why have to move them? That's the whole point of layers, not taking up screen space, also saving resources by not having to use extra plugins, using the same eq, fx setting, etc. The ideal thing would be to be able to hide the layers you're not using at the moment, and then bring them out if you want to replace a certain section of your main layer. As of now, you can show/hide layers, without being able to control which layers are hidden/shown. This is a feature that could be extremely helpful if you're editing multi-track drums. Cakewalk seems to focus on people using loops for drums and not on multi-track drums. A real bummer for me. I could really use that feature.

It seems like a reasonable thing to do. Did you file an official feature request for it?

No, but I will. I was hoping this would be something they would implement (because it isn't a bug), it just makes sense. Is there a feature request link, like the problem reporting one?
